I'd be nervous of spunking over £65K on a car that comes with a 1 year, 6,000mile warranty.
Me too given my ownership experience of the Evora - 1 year 6,000 screams that they know bits will fall off after hard use.Shame as epic car!
I've well and truly missed the boat on this one.
All the dealers I spoke to this morning have got in the region of 20 deposits each.
The honest dealers said it's unlikely that many people will get a GT4 who didn't get their loi in before the car was officially announced.
With the prospect of circa 200 being made for the uk and 35 porsche dealers, well done to those that got their money down early

I haven't yet put my deposit down but I had a LoI in 6 weeks ago. Where am I likely to stand? All the dealers I spoke to this morning have got in the region of 20 deposits each.

The cheaper V6S comes with a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty. Plus 8 year chassis corrosion warranty.
No mention of that from Porsche.
V6 Cup has 12 month warranty which is very unusual for a genuine motorsport product. Racing cars don't usually have any warranty at all. There is none whatsoever for the 991 GT3 Cup car.

People were saying the GT4 is a track-focused car and the Evora is just a daily sports car. I believe things are not quite like that, hence my response. (besides, I'm definitely not flogging the Lotus, quite the opposite)
The new-ish Evora will be in Geneva, yes. Hoping for a good one!
I also hope it will be very good --- I so nearly bought a Lotus Exige but ... I trust Porsche more at the moment, and taking the number plates off on a track day has never been my style ...The new-ish Evora will be in Geneva, yes. Hoping for a good one!
It may also be that the target price of the GT4 had to take account of the Evora .... competition is good !
The 991 GT3 is £25k more and that isn't a Mezger engine either, though it is full Dry Sump.
I'm trusting Andreas P ....

Maybe you got confused while you were finding every negative Cayman post but I didn't say anything about how it drove.
Making the point about passing GT3s on track is such a cliche, otherwise ask the 911 Turbo driver I lapped repeatedly ten years ago in my Civic Type R what he thinks of Civics
I just made the point that I haven't really met anyone who thinks the Cayman R (or any other 987) is a spectacularly good looking car (unlike the 981).
Value wise the Cayman R only seems to be trading about £4k above the normal 3.4S Cayman. Indeed they have lost 23% in 3yrs. A good performance, but not spectacular and well beaten in desirability by the 1M as the comparative depreciation curves prove.
I agree, on the value stakes I also had the option on a 1M. But ??Making the point about passing GT3s on track is such a cliche, otherwise ask the 911 Turbo driver I lapped repeatedly ten years ago in my Civic Type R what he thinks of Civics

And I have had great value out of the CR.

I seem to recall The Wookie on here had described the Evora as being about halfway between a standard Carrera and a GT3 in terms of its focus and how it felt on road and track. So, I expect a fair bit more comfort and a little more softness than a GT4 but it can still have fun on track without issues (e.g. AP brakes).
Looks like ChrisW had a rather long liquid lunch celebrating his place in the queue for a GT4.

Not enough to make a difference
Yes I agree the CR brakes were not good enough, hence I opted for the PCCB's which in 35k miles and many track days have been fantastic, but expensive in half used disk pads.
I think the GT3 brakes on the GT4 should do the job ... but Exige would be the second on my list ... had the dealership not told me that track days void the warranty ...
Sorry if I came over too strong ...

This alone closes the argument for me.No electric power steering.

No struts - wishbones front and cast aluminium at the rear.
Bespoke Nitron 2 way adjustable dampers.
No £5k Carbon seats (they are standard).
2-piece floating disc brakes.
Baffled sump.
430bhp available for £6k.
Apparently there is a factory 400BHP version coming out too.Bespoke Nitron 2 way adjustable dampers.

I loved the way the Exige drove - steering especially, but it just falls down too much in other areas. The interior is diabolically bad for a £65k car and despite what all these track warriors say, it still matters to most, even if the intention is for the car to be a weekend toy.Having that kind of power in a cayman with the chassis set up of a GT3 will be immense.
The first company that can cost effectively retrofit the GT3 mechanical rack will make a fortune.
