Funnily enough I'm test driving a Cupra 280 this afternoon. I'm actually interested in the ST, which although not out yet seems to make more sense with this engine and chassis. My local dealer only has the three door unfortunately but worth a spin.
Not sure if it will lure me away from my RWD German company car but I'm open to 280bhp of persuasion.

As previously said I would take the performance pack but this seems pointless. Just save the extra cash and add leather and an upgraded navigation system, or just save the cash...
Just go buy a Fiesta.

Using this logic the Leon should have the Golf R engine with FWD but cost standard Golf GTI money.
Mate, this is exactly what a Seat Cupra 280 is, Golf R engine for less than GTI money, check broker prices, you can get a 3dr DSG Cupra 280 for less than £23K.
Also,
The Cupra 280 is better to drive than the Golf R and it is likely that there will be less of them around. You can get them remapped to around 371bhp and 360lbft with a Revo stage 1 remap and it will still cost less than the Golf R biglaugh
Agreed, I really wanted to buy one last summer after testing driving one and the Golf R but opted for the Fiesta ST so I could save extra for a house. I am glad I didn't buy it for the the prices the dealers wanted last summer!

After I buy a house in the summer I think I'll trade in/sell the fiesta for a brand new one of these Cupra 280's from one of the brokers, I think it is unbelievable value for money.

Hang on a minute, has it taken SEAT almost a year to figure out what they did to one of their cars to get this sub 8 min time?

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-eurocars/seat-s...

Or...have those customers that have been buying the cars for the last year figured out they have the 'slower' version?

All a bit pointless anyway, I'll save my 4k and have a 'slow' one thanks.

Just because Porsche can charge more for less doesn't mean the brand on the other spectrum of the VAG can get away with that. Fair play though, it is worth a try. laugh

It still comes across as a total snooze fest to me, despite its competence. Those alloys too.... Eww!

I'll take the Megane R.S over this any day, it just seems like a harder, sharper tool for the job, and thats what I like.

Stock Cupra 280 + REVO Stage2, BCS turbo back exhaust, VWR Intake, Brembo 4 pots + 370mm 2 piece disks =my idea of a "performance pack"

Really happy with it, combined with the DSG it is really fun (compared to my previous MK2 Leon Cupra R APR Stage2+)
