Didn't think they would tbh as that definitely looks like "show paint", it even appears to have some some subtle flip paint characteristics. For concept cars, they will often use special paint and clear coat which is 8-10 layers deep to give the cars that extra deep shine and "glow" for showing them off under show lights, a process which would be very difficult to product-ionise, for obvious reasons.
If you thought the £500-£1000 for the normal metallic paint option is expensive then you'd be in for a rude awakening

We were on the Alfa Romeo booth at Goodwood years ago when my dad was interested in the 159. He wondered what the fantastic red paint was on their show car and was told by one of the reps that if he wanted to spec that paint as an option it would cost around £15k!
It was much like their standard red, but a very deep pearl which did look really smart. Something must've gone very wrong after that show however because he ended up with an Astra!

What do we think this will do for residuals of previous CTR's?
I can see values of FN2's dropping while EP3's firm up, and EK9's continue to go for a decent premium.
I can see the FD2 probably leveling out at 12k. I can see values of FN2's dropping while EP3's firm up, and EK9's continue to go for a decent premium.
The FN2 will probably continue to plummet apart from the Mugen.
EP3s will probably stay cheap for a good while.
EK9s will probably continue to command a scene tax.

It is possible to have the fancy paint from manufactures Ford with its ST Electric Orange and RS Green are both 3 stage pearls. However downside is they are virtually impossible to match, a nightmare to spray and very expensive hence why I believe most manufacturers prefer a more standard paint finish. I believe the Orange on the Mk3 ST has reverted back to a standard metallic as well.
Yep some certainly do. TVR with their chromaflair (spelling) and you could also get the R34 Skyline GT-R in a colour called midnight purple 3, which was a 3 stage flip faint. One of my friends had one and when he enquired about getting some paint to respray the front end for stone chips, was told it would cost around £500 a litre and that didn't include the base coat or top coat! That and the fact no bodyshop wanted to touch it for fear of not being able to match if properly. After that he was VERY anal about where he parked it!blearyeyedboy said:
"Plummet" is too strong a word. Remember that the first FN2's are nine years old now.
They hold their value pretty well compared to contemporaries.
I agree, especially since its the last K20 engined Honda - and a magnificent engine it is. I'm sure the new one will be good, but its another turbo, and I just can't see it having the same character by a long shot (although I am sure it'll still be better and more exciting than VAGs offerings). They hold their value pretty well compared to contemporaries.

Shame. Wasted opportunity.
I know. Where am I going to rest my coffee cup and bacon roll on that? It's pretty decent, and IMHO it looks 90% as nice as the devil horns, which were always going to be a long shot.
It's less important than The Time. To be honest though, that still doesn't tell us the most important thing, which is how much fun it'll be to drive. None of us will know that for a while yet but I'm hopeful.
I'm looking forward to video of The Lap though.
