0-62 in 5.7? That is Pathetic, Honda engineers must have cried themselves to sleep a few weeks ago when the Focus RS was announced as 4WD.
I imagine this being totally outsold by the RS.
5.7 for a FWD car is nearing the limit with current tyres. The Megane Trophy R is 5.8 to 62 in Pilot Sport Cup 2s.

The RS500 (C307) did it in 5.4. With 350BHP.

Sorry, I was a bit harsh with that, it is indeed quick for FWD and traction is obviously an issue, in this day and age it just sounds slow, I imagine the RS will be around 4 seconds.

The Civic will be quick I bet and great on smooth tarmac/racing circuits. However on country and bumpy potholed roads it will never put that power down, I imagine the RS will leave it for dead.....and possibly the Megane will beat it as well.

I know the 0-62 of the new RS, given I designed the engine cooling. It will be sufficient.

Are 'chipped' Golf R's not hitting 62 in 3.7? sure I read that in Evo....
Has the RS output been confirmed? Are you at liberty to say if there will be a Mountune kit and what figures we are talking about?

Given the choice out of the 'hyper' hatches. Hyper being used to denote +300bhp. Id plump for the Focus RS.
This, or wait and see what Italy has coming out in 2017...

295 lb-ft @ 2,500rpm.

Is this a good thing?

Yes. I know Honda owners are not familiar with this torque concept, but do keep up.

The engine will have a very flexible power band.

So no frown

hehe

Seriously, that is quite a lot low down. I wish more manufacturers would show us dyno plots. I'm not really interested in peak figures, I'd much rather see the space under the plot lines to get an idea how it drives.

It'd be my pick out of the current crop of FWD hatches, but the problem is that FWD is a bit 2009. Things have moved on.

I prefer the power delivery of previous Type-Rs, but it sounds like they've made something competitive. I bet it's a massive improvement for people who aren't very good at or interested in driving wink

Grrr, it should have been the concept car all along.

The actual arches are larger on the concept, and the track looks much wider.

It's not really a valid comparison (modified with standard) but yeah, about that. The previous RS3 was about that to 60 at stage 1, ~400bhp.

I'd be perfectly happy with 5.7 seconds to 60. What I wouldn't be happy with is the looks - I'd feel like a right knob driving that. I think my FN2 had the right blend of aggression without trying too hard. This is f**king awful.

This should be a sales success for Honda. It'll be interesting to see what the tuners do with this.

And whatever happened to Honda smashing Renault's FWD 'ring record?

I'm really undecided on this.. The milano looks terrible, it looks ok in black or white. Has there not been any news on the ring time? I don't get why 0-60 is even relevant any more, traffic light gp's are pointless, 60-100 or even 30-60 is more indicative of a cars performance. Unless you drag race, who cares...

Looks ok. Lose the red band on the alloys perhaps. Stance is the real issue but how many cars these days leave the factory with wheels which actually correctly fill the arches? Needs to be 20-30mm lower and with wheels about 15-20mm wider - then it will all be more cohesive. Of course then you lose some of that wind tunnel alchemy.
