Visually, it's a bit of a mish-mash. The front looks good and is pretty faithful to the concept but the rear quarter is, quite frankly, lazy; the rear arch/bumper overhang is an absolute mess and the arch extensions look like a cheap after-thought. The wheels look lost in said arches too. Looking forward to the reviews mind you.

Not all that keen on the looks. Chavvy yet awkward looking at the same time. FN2 was much nicer than this, heck even the EP3, although a lot more subtle, is a lot less challenging on the eye. The concept was very nice (even if still "chavvy"), but somehow they've subtly changed it for the worse in every area.

The lap time is conspicuous by its absence...

Problem is the standard car is already a compromised design - essentially being a heavily facelifted previous gen Civic. It was never a looker... this didn't have much chance either.

I'd even say the interior is nowhere near as special as the FN2 either.

I can see & to an extent agree with a lot of the points raised. Concept looked better & it is a bit boy racer & tacky looking, 5.7s 0-62 isn't spectacular, its up against the new Focus RS etc, etc

Yet for me it has an appeal, Im drawn to it, its just looks different, aggressive, a bit mad!! i can't wait t see & hear one!

Seriously, that is quite a lot low down. I wish more manufacturers would show us dyno plots. I'm not really interested in peak figures, I'd much rather see the space under the plot lines to get an idea how it drives.
You can draw the torque curve of most of these cars once you know the lowest rpm peak torque is available. Mainly because the torque curve is flat up to 4000-5000 rpm.

Area under the curve doesn't tell you much any more with these highly turbocharged engines anyway as sections of the map are almost inaccessible with the transient response. For instance, an engine that can make 400Nm of torque at 1500 rpm is going to take 2-4s to get there. What would be more useful is a torque curve that shows what the maximum available torque within 1s of a pedal input from say... 20kW would be.

I think its ok, would prefer the concept/pre-production but who wouldn't?

I for one im looking forward to the reviews when people get to actually drive the thing!

I expect never to see one of these in the wild.

A travesty of a car. Ugly and ranks nowhere in its target market.

its a quick time but there are so many variables and so many ways that the figures can be massaged they are fairly meaningless

hmm not a huge difference to a 4 year old record breaker with less bhp is it ?
Still it's more choice And the more choice the better, I'll keep to my old trustee Megane for the mo and see what the Megane 4 and focus Rs turn out like Before I even contemplate replacing my 250

The ring time is in reality utterly irrelevant, but it's a target Honda set themselves so they had to do it. I have a feeling that how important a person thinks a few seconds on the ring is may be linked to whether those are a few seconds faster than their car or a few seconds slower wink

Err honda were banging on how this car would be a gamechanger and a new level in hot hatch dominance 3 years ago
In my opinion they have failed, the time in itself isn't the comedy gold is it, the fact it looks like a 2001 max power car
and has not really changed any games has been the part that has amused me the most they shouldn't of blown there own horn quiet so much I'm sure it'll be fun to drive though all the same

Car manufacturer in marketing hype shock. It's yet another very quick front drive family hatchback with lots of power from a blown two litre four pot, just like the Megane was, just like you can buy from several other manufacturers. It's the quickest so far round a given track by a significant margin, until the next faster thing comes out. Were people expecting it to come with a set of hover boots?

So you're basing your opinion that it isn't a game changer on the fact you don't like it visually?
