RE: Mercedes E400 Coupe: Review
Discussion
Not this W204 generation of C-Class coupe (C204 if you're being a proper pedant!), I'd wager. The W205 C450 AMG Sport saloon/wagon is based on the new platform so if and when they spin a coupe off that I'd expect we'd get a C450 AMG Sport coupe. Which has definite potential!
We're driving the C450 AMG Sport on the pending C63 launch so I'll be sure to ask the question, not that I expect them to commit to an answer at this stage.
Cheers,
Dan

The E-class AMG Coupe boby style is way more attractive and distinctive than either the BMW or Audi with their same again for all models styling. The E250 CDI AMG Coupe is the one to go for as it's fast and frugal.
Agree this is my current daily car. Really like the e coupe but its not very sporty so the 250cdi makes sense as still fast enough but much cheaper running costs. mikey P 500 said:

It's a fair point and one I considered when writing the review - hence my saying it 'overlapped' with the BMW and Audi rather than directly rivalled them. But check out the comparison stats I compiled in my research and you'll see why I chose to go ahead with the reference...

Sorry, but I don't agree with that at all.Cheers,

Using a table like that, you can easily fit the A6 in the same class as a C-class.
I thought these cars would be more split in terms of size. How does the E coupe compare? I can hardly believe it's as cramped in the back as my friend's 4-series?

the Merc still has hydraulically assisted steering too; not so long ago we'd have probably described it as light and vague but in the fog of gritty, insincere electric systems like that fitted to the 435i it's a beacon of tactility and feedback
Does this not just say everything we need to know about modern cars. Driver involvement is now no longer an important part of designing and developing a car. Even this, with HPAS, still feels disconnected - let alone an EPAS car.I work in the industry but I find myself more & more thinking about a different career path as modern cars just leave me cold. A domestic appliance and nothing more...

V fking six. I don't think so.
I know. Such a shame. It does at least look good in black, though.Interesting that the article refers to the old 5.5 V8. I've got an E500 - cab not coupe - and it's got the newer 4.7 V8 (with a couple of turbos for good measure). It's not AMG but it's pretty fast as well as nice and discreet while still sounding lovely. Interestingly it's badged Bluefficiency which I can only assume is because it has stop/ start. Having laughed at that it's actually not bad - getting mid-high twenties when I don't hit it too hard...
