Hmmm... one of you likes Audi's, the other does not.
Not much more to it.

May I suggest a cup of tea and a lie down to you both?
I don't dislike all Audi's, I am just not excited about this one.

However they have brought joy to the world...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AQmgeMoM0A

"Audi have only made one interesting car in the last decade, I don't see that changing any time soon."

Sounds like you don't like Audi's to me.

Probably best for your blood pressure if you don't get involved in Audi themed posts.

I was previously looking at a Golf R to replace my mk6 GTI which, when specced similarly to a standard spec RS3, comes in at a not insignificant £37k.

Go ahead and follow the VW configurator and add sat nav, 19" wheels, nappa leather, DSG and watch the base price of £30k rack up.

Conversely the RS3 has all these things as standard and in a car with far greater performance, at least on paper.

IF the RS3 is as good to drive as the Golf R I think there's a compelling argument to be made for an RS3 over a Golf R, especially given the usually very good finance deals available on RS models....

I would also guess that residuals on the RS3 might be better given how many Golf Rs are getting put on the road and that the base price of the car is £40k rather than £30k so psychologically one is worth more than the other, regardless of what options were ticked at time of build.

These pics from Geneva look quite good, although Nardo Grey with black optics is the best IMHO!

this video from Auto Moto shows the Nardo Grey! mmm

I saw this car in the flesh today and was pleasantly surprised, the Sportsback looks quite understated compared to some of the other metal in that market segment. (A45, even Golf R)

One thing I found odd is that it had gigantic front brake rotos with the "wavy disks" yet the rear ones were round and absolutely tiny in comparison. Looked very strange to my eyes.
While I checked out the car two I overheard two (!) independent passersby commenting on the size difference of the front and rear brake rotors. Made me wonder if this is just pre-production flaw?

mm interesting! I suspected that it would look better in the flesh... Even more understated than the Golf R? Personally I think the Golf R looks too understated, but for some reason I'm obsessed by this new RS3. Yeah I had also noticed that the rear brakes look very small in comparison to the fronts. I guess it's not rear wheel drive so doesn't need big rotors to rein in the wheel spin so much, although it does have torque vectoring (braking version). I'll reserve judgement until I see it in the flesh myself.

Ridiculous price specced up... nearly £50k

Would have to be mind blowing...it just doesnt add up !

Just on the 0-60 time alone of 4.3 it just isnt quick enough for that price....I need to feel fear for that kind of money.

Will wait to drive one but wont be getting too excited about this....

probably not, the rear brakes typically only do 20% of the stopping?

full uk pricing was posted yesterday

So what will you be buying for less than GBP50k that will make you 'feel fear?' Posts like yours make me confused. How is 0-60 in 4.3 not quick? How is GBP50k not reasonable for what is in reality extreme performance?

Some better pictures of Nardo grey/black pack here. Looks great imo.

Has anyone else received a PDF of the brochure? The geneva press car has Carbon inlays but not mentioned in the uk brochure. Also the new lighter bucket seats talked about in the press release before Christmas isnt in the options list... same goes for carbon brakes (Although i wouldnt be interested in these)

Maybe some options are not available in UK from launch?

0-100km/h in 4.3. 100km/h = 62.14mph wink

60 will therefore come up a little sooner, usually around 2/10 quicker.

Audi are always conservative with their performance figures too, chances are this will dip below 4secs to 60.

Audi now have a finance offer showing on the website, but still no configurator or spec available since the original pdf was withdrawn.

+1

I'm sure I read that some guys were recording sub 4 second 0-60 times in the previous gen RS3 so this one is almost guaranteed to offer that kind of performance.

Fantastic looking car!

£40k does sound a lot, but the specification, power and engine is a huge leap over the S3.

Residuals were strong on the last model, so ownership might not be that expensive overall.

I guess we'll need to see if it is any good now.

Seems like a bargain considering the pace over a similarly specced Diesel model. And given the residuals of the old one I bet they'll hold their value reasonably well.

Everybody moaning about the price sounds stupid. I'm sorry. What do you expect!?
