RE: New Audi R8 - first look
Discussion
I'm so bored of the manufactures reveal it bit by bit trend of recent years.
The mass majority of the public, which includes the majority of purchasers, simply don't care. It won't even cross their radar.
That leaves the enthusiasts. Why wind us up with articles that show and tell us so little.
Very boring overused worn out marketing. Time for something new people.
As for PH, this is just noise on your site. No meat. Value in traffic? Pah. Where's the value in boring/frustrating your audience, with articles that serve no real purpose other than low quality traffic stats for... boring.
Surely I'm not alone?

You know what's great about this?
Serial Audi owner. Very used to dominating those around him, overtaking at will, blinding all who approach with his LEDs of great power, using boundless torque to vanquish all from the middle lane of the M6. Brake checks those who follow too closely, tailgates those who don't pull over, he administers justice from his throne of leather and chromed plastic.
Picture the scene, he's upgraded to the latest Audi with (frickin') laser beams on the front. Now his vigilante law really has some teeth! Perfect, an oncoming simpleton with pathetic yellowy headlights from the 1800s has left their main beams on, blinding Mr Vorsprung. A wry smile forms, he curls a moisturised and manicured finger around the chromed plastic main beam stalk and in his head mutters "ACTIVATE THE LASER!", flicking to main beam to punish this untermensch!
But wait, what the durch? 700m ahead is bathed in striking white light, but the unwashed peasant in the oncoming lane with the high beams is spared! Thwarted by his own technik! Passing dry foliage ignites under the brilliance of his main beam, but the oblivious bd in the other lane gets away with it!

Audi is pathologically obsessed with lights.
So, it seems, is PistonHeads. If it's not headlights then it's brake lights. If not brake lights then it's fog lights. If it's not fog lights then it's cyclists' lights. Audi is just cashing in on this obsession.
Personally think the R8 looks fantastic in the flesh. It was pitched against the 911 Carrera S, so i think it is a little harsh to compare it against full-on supercars and declare it boring. You'd also come away unnecessarily disappointed, as the V8 version isn't especially quick.

0-60 in 4.3 is pretty quick, but I think in this day and age where I can go and buy a family saloon (as I did on Saturday) that does 0-60 in 4.8, it's easy to think of anything over 4s as 'not particularly quick'. I think given the looks, people might expect the V8 to be quicker than it is, but it's still quick!! Personally think the R8 looks fantastic in the flesh.
