Its at least £10k overpriced. If they were more realistic about the asking price they may actually sell some rather than just have a market full of demos and press cars which will be sold for true value in a few months time.
At 39k its the price of an RS3 with no spec (or a specced up S3) or the price of an A45 AMG. Its a bigger car with a lot more equipment in it, regardless of what the true perceived value of a car is they wont build them at a loss.

Hi all,

Great to see a really interesting debate about the car is still bubbling away. For anyone who is coming to this weekend's Sunday Service we'll have the car there - so make sure you pop over and have a look / chat if you're interested!

Cheers

Only talk about the price, have people forgotten what a new car these days costs?

Spec out a 335xi and you'll be in the same boat, but you'll still be down 10% in power.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a bonkers amount of money, but so is all the competition.

I think its priced perfectly, if I were in the market I would be looking at this over the alternatives.

its aimed at those people with prejudices, those who don't want a BMW / Merc / Audi or someone who like me, want something that wont appear on the drive 3 doors down and then another 8 doors down.

seems to do everything well in that typical understated volvo way
nail on the head there chap. Here is the USA, Volvo are only importing 120 of which 100 will be V60's and maybe half of those in blue. So 50 in the entire USA will make is a *very* rare sight.

I was quoted $68k including all taxes for a new one here from a Volvo dealer, so about the same price as the UK.

Exaclty, that RS3 is actually more like £45k, minimum.

And an evenly optioned Audi S4 costs not much less than the Polestar, same story for the BMW 335i Msport XDrive auto, and their not limited editions...

Allthough, choosing your own spec. does have same advantages; I'm not interested in; electric seats, all of todays driver aids, sunroofs etc.

O, by the way, Sportauto tested the Polstar vs. the S4 (heavy and totally lost on track), the BMW 335i (only 10 kg's lighter than the Polestar) and the Vauxhall VXR, and guess who won the test....and that in Germany:

http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/vergleichstest/...
To be fair, the S4 was running Pirelli Cintauros, (which are compromised for durability) and the Volvo is on Michelin PSS. Also the BMW was somewhat underpowered for this test (down 37 hp and 100 nm in torque)despite being 10 kg lighter.

Still, a very nice showing from a road car that ticks all the boxes most likely to trigger PH Driving God superiority complex. hehe
Correct, but both the Audi and the BMW have better gearboxes, better (non-Haldex) 4wd systems and the BMW has a far better weight distribution....etc.etc

O and speaking about prices, just saw a new V60 Polestar at a dealership here in the Netherlands; € 103k (or $117k / £76k)

All thanks to our lovely C02 based car tax system.....

I can't help feeling that a pre reg rs4 or a new s4 is going to hold its value rather better than a 50k volvo. I'm hoping so anyway so they are a good buy in a couple of years.

Having just seen a T6 r design on autotrader for 14k, is there really a huge difference?

Depends, de-badge all the cars and externally (and to some degree internally too) it will take a purist to discern anything different between the V60 Polestar, a T6 R-Design and a reasonably specced V60 D2 R-Design!!

But get in the car and drive it and the difference between the V60P and a standard T6 R-Design is colossal!

A lot of bespoke engineering in this one and a lot of time spent on it by Polestar, it's more powerful than the stock T6 too - and side by side the extra body kit does show, the front spoiler/splitter in particular.

I love 'em lick

Seems like Volvo will be producing some more than initially intended.
