Correct, but both the Audi and the BMW have better gearboxes, better (non-Haldex) 4wd systems and the BMW has a far better weight distribution....etc.etc
Gearboxes are improved yes but unless you ragging the knackers off the car in day to day driving the geartronic is still a pleasant and smooth box.

Better 4wd? Think we have all seen BMW's lack of AWD traction on anything other than dry tarmac, throw in some snow and ice and id dare bet the BMW is borderline useless, the audi system will be similar to the Volvo's in awd traction if not quite as good. Weight distribution from Audi? Yes the BMW will be nearer 50/50 but these aren't track cars, it will make no difference to on road driving.

Seems like Volvo will be producing some more than initially intended.

Yup, looks like they are but there's no indication of how many more are destined for the UK market.

Sales of the Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar expands to 13 countries

After substantially exceeding customer demand expectations in 2014, the Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar gets a renewed production of 750 cars in 2015 and expands to 13 countries around the world.
”We are delighted to see the positive response from customers all over the world on our very first production car. This marks another important milestone for Polestar,” said Christian Dahl, CEO of Polestar.

After rolling out the cars to customers in eight countries last year, the S60 and V60 Polestar will be expanded to the Middle East for 2015, a region showing strong interest for Polestar. The new countries to get the MY16 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar include Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

“The Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar are selling faster than we expected, and we have, as a result decided to expand into new markets. Polestar remains an integral performance brand partner and this is a clear sign of confidence in the potential of this partnership,” said Anders H. Gustavsson, Vice President Special Vehicles at Volvo Car Group.

The Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar are designed to carry Polestar's engineering philosophy to deliver an engaging, precise and confident driving experience in all weathers, on all roads and in all seasons.

”I have just returned from racing in Australia where I spent a lot of time behind the wheel of my Volvo S60 Polestar. First thing when I got back to Sweden, I picked up my Volvo V60 Polestar and drove it 1200 kilometres from Polestar to my home in the north of Sweden. I have lived with it in the harsh and hot conditions of Australia, as well as the cold and snowy Sweden and it delivers a great driving experience as well as driver confidence wherever you go,” said Robert Dahlgren, Polestar racing and development driver.

Looks like they are adding Silver and White to the colour options - Rebel Blue for me though, every time :-)

That's really interesting. I'm loving this car, can anyone lend me 40k please?
No need for £40k when one dealer already has a 4 month old car with just 2500 miles for a snip over £35k - sadly, as predicted, the residuals are dire!

Both Silver and White have been available from the word go, alongside Rebel Blue and Black Sapphire, so it doesn't look like there's any new colours for the MY16 cars (yet).

Really? I'm sure here in the US it was just the black and blue. Perhaps the silver and white weren't available over here?

My apologies as I probably wasn't as clear in my post as I could have been - what I meant is all 4 colours have been available right from the start of production last fall, but that doesn't necessarily mean that importers (in your case VCNA) would decide to bring them all into each individual market.

Pre registered V60 Polestars are cropping up on Autotrader for around £40,000 - £42,000 now, a fair drop.

I think its priced perfectly, if I were in the market I would be looking at this over the alternatives.

its aimed at those people with prejudices, those who don't want a BMW / Merc / Audi or someone who like me, want something that wont appear on the drive 3 doors down and then another 8 doors down.

seems to do everything well in that typical understated volvo way
Got to agree with this. Have been waiting for a sleeper car like the V60 Polestar to come along for some time. Nicely understated and not seen very often, just my kind of thing.

It looks cracking in the flesh but wanted to ask any owner what they thought of the leg room in the rear seats. For such a long car the gap looks really narrow. Any opinions?

It's acceptable, but not vast, kids/teenagers should be fine for a cross country schlep but your six foot plus burly rugby players might not be overly impressed.

It's essentially identical to a stock V60, so if you have a Volvo dealer nearby poke your nose in the door and feign interest in their crappy D2 demonstrator hehe

Thanks, as suspected from the photos. That's surprising given the length of the car.

Yeah it's not gargantuan, but it's enough for day to day use I'd say.

I have liked these since their launch and the ones in the 39/40k price bracket are tempting me sorely, they really are.

Damn!
