I've seen a 280 2007 and it's had the chains done. It seems to be well specced with full leather, say nav and afl.

Might go view it this weekend especially if the owner of the mps I want to go view doesn't get back to me.

Lol. I'd prefer the mps, just depends what's available as I need a car this week as I am currently car less.

If only the owner of the one offered to me would get back to me so I could arrange to go view it!

I Have the Vectra Vxr, it is an excellent motorway cruiser. But if your roads are as badly maintained as in my area and you do a lot of driving on those type of roads, make sure you take a test drive using those conditions. Mine tramlines and wanders, I changed the 19" to 18" to improve the ride but although better (the 19" alloys are also liable to crack) still not as I would like.

MPS. Better interior and awd makes a huge difference.

Drive them both down blackburn road / Grange Mill lane off M1 J34 and whichever doesn't break your spine wins!

Lol, not sure the owners would let me take their cars 200 miles away for that test!

Always had a soft spot for the Mazda 6. The MPS is properly rare around these parts and fairly subtle but for people in the know pretty easy to spot.
I would always go for them.

One point though, I've been a fan of the first Mazda 6, then of the 2nd and now of the current. But every time it seems like the previous gen has aged pretty badly. This might be because the new gen looks more brilliant every time, but it still does.

Still a lovely motor, mind you.

Currently have an MPS and really enjoying it. I normally change cars every 6 months or so and i am really struggling to think of a replacement. Mine is a 2006 but just qualifies for the cheaper tax band which is nice.

As previously mentioned the interior and stereo in the Mazda are miles better than the VXR. Another vote for the MPS.

It sounds like I could be disappointed with a Vxr then! Just arranging with the owner of the mps when i can take the 5 hour journey to go look!

Not really thought of that, plus I am very limited on time as I need a car before Wednesday

Not biased at all.... but MPS all the way, feels so nice to drive and I can't really find any drawbacks of it.

As for throwing a rod, only if you're an idiot and boosting when cold, look after her and she'll look after you.

As an ex Vectra 2.8 V6 Turbo owner I can tell you that they feel and are really quick for a 5 door family car.

The V6 turbo is an excellent engine.

I wish I still had mine.

If when you say 'similar money' you actually mean 'over twice as much', then yes I agree
