Er they did make a 2.5T version of the Mk4 Mondeo. Just as rare as the MPS though (but better 'spec').
Probably less fun though and costs more to buy. Looks like I am viewing the mps on Tuesday anyway biggrin
We have both. smile

The Mondeo is much more of a sensible car, the MPS is a hoot.
Tragically they didn't do an "ST" version of the Mk4 Mondeo so the 2.5T is as good as it gets.

No one else has complained about the seats, maybe they don't suit you? I've had cars with seats I hate but others like.
They're not uncomfortable - I have a bit of a lower back problem and find them absolutely fine on long journeys. The problem is that they offer no lateral support - everyone else is either a proper fatty or takes their corners like grandma.

I can always replace the seats for ones with lateral support so it's not such a bad thing smile

They're both a bit...you know...council IMO.
And what are the later Mazda's like when it comes to rust? The early ones are terrible.

I's definently take a SAAB over a Vauxhall. Similar cars of course, but SAAB's are much better made.

Had a look at an MPS on Tuesday. Drove nicely and went better than I expected.

Unfortunately I didn't purchase as I didn't feel 100% with the car. It's unlike me as I've generally always bought the first car I've viewed. 10 hour round trip on the train for added enjoyment!

Off to look at another on Wednesday. Another 5 hour train journey!

I have a 9-3 with the same engine as the VXR. I would recommend going for one of those if you can find one, as they are less likely to belong to the 'barry boyz club innit' - still quite rare with the 2.8T though.

Much more subtle than either of the other two an a nicer interior and often better equipped. Although sadly this gen of 9-3 isn't the best built, mine seems to be fine with no rattles.

I had a 9-3 SportWagon with that engine until last year (no longer needed an estate, so got an MX-5 driving ) . Bought it with 23k miles on the clock, put another 50k on and everything still worked. if you can, get one with the facelifted interior - it's much more durable/reliable.

Blimey you're a determined man, I've never driven more than an hour to view a car.

Good cars are worth travelling for IMO.

Besides, the drive back will be fun as the car isn't exactly standard biggrin
