RE: Last Bugatti Veyron sold

I am sure Kegg will sell you a car that will at least match the vayron's top speed if you happen to have access to the 3 places on the planet its possible to do it, they certainly make cars that blitz them in a straight line, and probably wont cost 100k a year to service
The Bugatti is unlikely to do so, just it can result in one. Same as the 'Segg potentially, although they have less problems now compared to what they had previously.clonmult said:
The McLaren is still a better looking car, and at least for my money, a way better engineered product. VW just wanted stupidly big numbers, and they got it. Gordon Murray wanted something lightweight, which is still the best way to make a car go fast. The Bug is fundamentally flawed and butt ugly. The McLaren less flawed, and has a considerably more timeless design (doesn't look anything like a dated as the bug).
And more importantly for me, the McLaren being a 3 seater means that I could have both of my sons in the car with me .... Gordon was thinking of divorced dreaming single dads with 2 sons all along ...
Actually weight has very litte to do with making making something go fast (beyond a certsin point). It comes down to power and aero instead. Plus the issue of tyres that are able to cope. Both are very interesting pieces of engineering work, just they approach it in different ways and at different times. The Bugatti has to deal with a lot more regulations these days that the McLaren didn't have to. I'd also say of many of the current cars the Bugatti is the one that will date the least, since there is very little styling on it (compared to the heavily sculpted hypercars). It's not what I would go for, but too many people parrot on about it being rubbish because it's heavy etc.And more importantly for me, the McLaren being a 3 seater means that I could have both of my sons in the car with me .... Ugly as sin
Completely outclassed by the new generation of hybrid hypercars
Based on the Passat of the time with extensive part sharing
BUT... hard to think what other brand of car would have the same ring to it in this Tiga track:

Whatever one may think about the car, I think it is great to have an engineer leading a big car company. Piech was / is responsible for a lot of great stuff that did not make any commercial sense -- but he had it done anyway. Big petrol head that man. Once he gives up power completely, it will likely shift even more to the bean counters. Not a good thing IMO.

Definitely seriousOn a side note Mrs-C was very annoyed when I bought my Skoda and she discovered it had the same light switch as her Mk1 TT.

Petrol supercars using power to overcome weight will eventually be looked back on as dinosaurs.
And I reckon the Bugatti Veyron will be hailed as the Tyrannosaurus rex.
The ultimate autobahn predator of it's time and will facinate for years after it's passing, but ultimately an evolutionary dead end.

A couple of years back I would have scoffed at that but having seen what a Tesla P85D can do, I am not so sure, its early days for electric cars, still a few things to overcome but the way they accelerate is unbelievable and I cant imagine there isn't more to give, the current crop seem to all be some kind of hybid but I reckon an all electric hypercar cant be that far off.And I reckon the Bugatti Veyron will be hailed as the Tyrannosaurus rex.
