For a car designed solely for the track I would have thought they could have had styled it far better put more effort in to making it look much more special, should sound fab though.
Autocar have a render in more racey colours:

Well I, for one, am quite shaken.

I love the attention to detail - it even has the pointy ears of a Vulcan.
The colour is wrong, green is the colour of Klingon Birds of Prey. Vulcan cruisers are normally blue.
You're both missing it. The colour is definitely more Romulan Warbird.

The Pi GTR and FXX K are based on existing road cars, so are Aston doing this backwards and planning a road version to follow? Looks quite something Without all the aerodynamic addenda. The front reminds me of a Pantera.

Wot? Left-hand drive?!
If you're on a track it doesn't really matter which side you sit.
Given that most tracks run clockwise, having RHD would be an advantage
I'll bet it's aimed squarely at the middle east market and not for the track either...

It pains me to say this, as a die hard Aston Martin fan, but I really do not like that.

Looks awesome, hope it goes as good as it looks. Aston on a roll with the GT3 as well at the moment.

Seems like an extremely enjoyable way to spend £1.5m

I really hope this soft launch of the new styling works for AM as breaking away from something they got so phenomenally right and still looks so fresh and great 15 years on is bloody difficult.
I would rather they stay very close to the perfect design language they have currently. Like Porsche with the 911, if it aint broke don't fix it and stop pandering to people who want a 'refresh' for the sake of it.

I think that looks fabulous and you get a clear sense of the next design language. I like!

Hmm - as with the DB10, i'm not sure about the looks.

The side and rear are fine - but the front looks weird with those massive vents in the bonnet, especially when viewed from an elevated position.

Not sure I like the direction Aston Martin are taking their styling....think i'll pass on this one wink

edit: The autocar render above does it far better justice than the official shots.

For those commenting on the lights and road car propsects etc AM have already said it has been designed with single vehicle type approval in mind where that might apply

Who said all Aston Martins look the same? biggrin

Need to see proper photos, not a rendering.

Fantastic. Crazy, expensive cars is what Aston should be building. With more economies out there than 50 years ago, hopefully this is more of a sustainable business model.

Slightly surprised by the negative reaction- I think it looks rather awesome in a Lamborghini special kind of way.

Also "Aston Martin Front-mid 7ltr V12 with 800bhp" frankly it could look like a turd and it wouldn't matter- it'll sound like God gargling galaxies :-)
I think you have hit the nail on the head. If it were a Lamborghini it would be okay but it doesn't fit with the image of AM

anyone else seeing Speed 12 in there? Probably slightly plusher accommodation though...and less sticky tape.

Yep. Being able to put it on the road will make it a must have car for one or two wealthy Middle Eastern types. 24 is a bit, you know, common. But being able to be the one driving through down town Dubai or park outside Harrods would be an instant sale for a few people. They could probably sell all of them without it, but for the sake of a little work they garentee the sales and probably more of the same in the future. Builds the brand where ferrari refuse to go.

Can't help but find this a little cynical from AM. They've seen the success that Ferrari, Maclaren and Porsche have had shifting high value low volume cars, but can't be bothered or don't have the resource to develop a road car, so instead have taken the simpler route of launching a track car.

Every firm has a right to make money, and good luck to them if they can find 24 people to buy it, but I increasingly find that Aston's oddities ( not letting anyone drive the One-77, the "new" Lagonda only being available in the Middle East, the Cygnet and now this ) are damping my enthusiasm for the mark
