If you want to do something about it, whinging about motorists on a car forum is probably not that thing.

I'm saying I'd stop cycling, because viewed on the impression PH's angry cyclist posse give of it, it doesn't sound like a lot of fun, whereas driving's great!
Luckily I don't base my choices on a few selfish wkers on the internet, cycling is a fantastic sport but on the roads (in the UK) you just have to deal with the mouth breathing idiots, you know the sort.......
What, the ones that can't get their point across without rude swearing? Yes I know the ones you mean. hehe

Ah the reasoned and balanced view of a 'biker'

Next.
Well as I'm on a 'bike' when I'm experiencing this on an almost daily basis I'd say I'm fairly well placed to comment (by bike I mean a two wheeled human powered vehicle). The standard of cycling is fking shocking wherever you are in the world IMO. Almost makes me think they should make people have tests, license them and force them to take insurance. Apart from the fact I don't believe in any of that biggrin.

cycling is too dangerous and disruptive for many A and B roads. I am all for cycling becoming more popular but councils should really be deciding a lot of roads just aren't suitable for it.
Oh no it isn't. It's perfectly safe as long as the drivers are competent...
Just as with Mways there are A and B roads that are unsafe for cycling.

I nearly did with one the other week.

F**ing idiot.
In the dark wearing dark clothes with no lights on a busy NSL single carriageway rural A road.

Blatantly he had no idea I was there, so a little friendly toot of the horn as a warning to say: "I'm here". His response? The finger (without turning his head), positioning himself in the middle of the road and slowing right down to a crawling pace. I bit, I shouldn't have but he riled me up; I instantly overtook and slammed the brakes on. Last thing I saw was him skidding into the curb, and clumsily coming off his bike with both feet on the ground (the type when you come off the bike but keep on running afterwards). Whoops. laugh
So the cyclist did something silly, and your response was to deliberately endanger his life.

FFS.

Yes, of course you are. Now go and have a little lie down.

You don't give a toss about your driving, I don't feel the need to bother myself with your issues over swearing. One will kill someone, the other will only offend.

That's the thing with you lot. As long as nothing impacts on your little lives everything else can suffer. Honestly, this is only a big issue in certain countries. You must be really proud to not be as clever as 90% of Europe when it comes to driving smile

As a bystander to a few arguments in this thread, and thirty more I suppose, I wonder what would happen if all the people who explicitly clash opinions got together, physically in one room...

I live in the Netherlands. We all ride bikes here and I do approx 6000km a year on a bicycle across Europe, the UK and USA according to my GPS. I reckon 80% of my road time is in the saddle. You seem to me like you've got a chip on your shoulder.

But so what? Isn't like complaining of the standard of stamp collecting or something? What difference does it make?

No, you overtook and brake-tested him, causing him to fall off his bike.
You deliberately endangered his life to make some kind of point. Psychotic behaviour.

You make a blanket statement, which is total bks by the way and then say I have chip on my shoulder. Of course.

I think the standard is particularly low in the UK. Its as if lighting and observance of traffic law is optional.

I'm saying standards need to be improved. Where is the downside? Its a st situation ATM IMO mostly because people are in denial about the need to raise standards. Until then I guess car users might find entitlement for their bullying.
Edit to add I guess I'll wait forever for your apology for your precipitous insult. Typical knob on a bike eh?

I'm not offended, in fact I'm pleased. You've just stuck a big sign on yourself for my future reference "I'm an imbecile so please ignore me". That was very thoughtful of you thumbup
