On the contrary.

No, I quoted what I posted for the knuckle dragger's that are incapable (so it seems) of reading, for emphasis!

Really you cyclists are a brainless bunch! Hence why it is pointless engaging with them out on the road rolleyes

Should probably stop mocking the afflicted now, I really shouldn't drag myself down to your level. The air down here is not great biggrin

Anyway enough of this, getting bored now and have better things to do.

I respect those who take to a cycle to enjoy the countryside and get some fresh air. The ones who ride responsibly.

I despise those chumps with attitudes who think the roads belong to them and it is ok to be abusive to other road users, under any circumstances.

Along with said plonkers on the Internet.

If you want to change the vast negative opinions of drivers of cyclists, suggest an attitude adjustment may be the best way rather than hurling abuse and making silly statements on PistonHeads. smile

Have a safe day!

And I'm happy to report that people with stinking attitudes like JagXJR are in a vanishingly small minority, even on PistonHeads.

When I play ice-hockey, I always wear a helmet, I wouldn't dream of going on the ice without a it. Now and then I go off-pist skiing, always wearing a helmet. When I go out on the motorbike, I always wear a helmet, not because it's the law but because it's the smart thing to do. When I was rallying I always had my helmet on.
You seem to be confusing sport and transport. Do you wear your rallying helmet to drive to the shops? If not, why not? You'd be safer with it on, surely?

There are about 10 airbags all around the car to protect me, how many are there on a bike?

Has it occurred to you that you are on pistonheads? You aren't arguing with cyclists. You're arguing with driving enthusiasts, some of whom also ride a bike from time to time.

You've not answered the question. Airbags AND a helmet would be safer than just relying on the airbags; wouldn't it?

At least I have airbags, what about cycling without airbags or a helmet, that can't be safe? smile

You clearly haven't got anything better do do, is this the 3rd or 4th time you've left the thread?

What about crossing the road without airbags or a helmet? Do you do that too? I bet you've even done it drunk. How reckless can you get!

Alternatively, is it possible that some activities are safe enough without extra protective gear? That doesn't mean that more protective gear wouldn't make them even safer, just that they are already below an acceptable level of risk without it.

Is cycling safe enough compared to riding a moped? Statistics would suggest that cyclists are more prone to injury and death.

Source please. Everything I've ever seen puts motorcyclists at ~10x the level of risk of cyclists, despite all the safety gear the former already wear.

What is that rate per passenger kilometre? The raw numbers are meaningless without knowing how much use of mopeds and bicycles is made.

Can't find any stats on that. There are more bicycles than mopeds, but mopeds are used for longer journeys, hard to tell.

Statistics Fail. Those numbers are utterly meaningless without modal share, miles travelled or some other context.

By your (faulty) logic, being a pedestrian is the most dangerous of all. At least 50 were killed in Sweden in 2012 alone. That's nearly twice as dangerous as being on a bicycle... nuts
