Interior looks fantastic.

Really don't like the exterior though. I'd actually rather it looked more like a TT.

God it's beautiful. Shame they ditched that joined-up blade up the sides of the first gen; really enjoyed the design of that.
That design feature was just too exciting for Audi.

Looks very similar to the MK1,
I have a Mk1 v8 manual and it's a brilliant car to drive flat out. But pretty boring a lot of the time, and the interior feels pretty dated now.
The new one appears to be just fixing the problems as opposed to being a revolution.

The lines in the rear remind me of the Lykan's.

The side reminds me of the Clio v6:

That front end looks fantastic to me, really striking... the rear though is a little flat, although the spoiler helps! Shame these cars used to be available new at under £100k though, they're pushing way too much now.

Why are cars getting wider and wider? Even more of a pain to park as more likely to get dinged by others plus too big for the best B roads. Is it to satisfy the "larger" customers to have more internal space? It to help with lateral grip and lap times?
Same question - what are the benefits of making the car 4cm wider? Side impact crash safety? The main thing I'd worry about with a car like this would be physical size, and the 911 is oft-praised for its compact dimensions and consequent usability. It would seem that a narrower car would be easier to use for daily driver duties in town, and also would let you enjoy quieter, narrower B-roads more.

something doesn't sit right at the front, perhaps the small overhang I dunno, just meh, prefer the old headlights too.

Much prefer to softer curvy form of the original that the creased new design.

I know its in keeping with the current Audi design cues but now its far too similar to the hairdressers favourite.

Not such a fan of the bespoilered red one, but the smoother looking blue one is much nicer.

Interior looks splendid and points for Audi putting some relatively nice wheels on it.

Never been a big fan of the R8 design wise. Sometimes I like them then other times I don't. The white car pictured above looks quite nice though. I have to say the new one doesn't push the design forward and looks very safe; too much like the current TT as well. I think the NSX looks much more desirable outside with more presence. The interior of the NSX also looks significantly more adventurous also, not to mention the engine and drivetrain technology. That would be my choice if I was ever in that position...

Ugly sister.

I don't think either of them make you think "supercar". I'm sure it'll be very good though, but I'd never buy one.

Have I missed something, or are they not selling an entry level V8 this time round?
Apparently coming later on.

I like it. I like the old one too. I'd have either and be quite happy.

yawn...

Surprise, once again the A8 looks like an expanded TT, even more so without the side 'blade' (what are the wideboys going to mimic on their financed TT's now?!?)

...and no, I haven't driven one, but thanks to the design I probably wouldn't test drive one if I was in that market.

Sure its an astonishingly good car, but I don't want one, and there are plenty of great cars that are also great designs for similar money.

Despite that, sure it'll sell well and the owners will be happy.

Usually I'm a big fan of Audi design but this is very lacklustre and uninspired. I wouldn't exactly call the first car a 'classic' in terms of car design, this one seems like the people at Audi did consider it a classic and thus wanted to stray from it as a little as possible.

Also, it has the same exhaust pipes as A6's and A8's.

The R8 has just lost its wow factor. I wish Audi could have been braver with the design, they needed to put more space between it and its TT cousin.

Disappointing to my eyes. As ever, the proof will be in an in the flesh sighting. I'm guessing the side blades have been lost for cost down, otherwise why would you remove a trademark feature when trying to build on a strong start for a sub-brand? The strakes following the lights look cheap and contrived to me, too. Such a shame. I hope that real life (rather than a computer screen) changes my view! frown
