Looks typical Audi, safe and dull.

Always been a fan of the 1st gen but this is, to echo others, a step backwards; don't think the angular design cues will do much for it in time and would expect the 1st gen to age better. The loss of the full side 'blades' is something to bemoan too.
Totally agree.

As an ex R8 owner, I find this a real disappointment.

Maybe in the flesh it looks better, but I am not warming to those photos.

I was never much of a fan of the old one, so it's not surprising that I don't like the look of this one. I would still rather the old one than this, just does nothing for me at all.

Looks pretty good on the whole, but the scourge of fake exhausts built into bumpers has now reach £120k+ cars frown Come on Audi, surely when somebody is paying that much you can give them a proper tailpipe..

It goes way above that. Go and have a look at a Veyron Supersport. smile

The old one broke ground by showing that supercars don't need to look exciting.
The new one breaks ground by showing that supercars don't even need to look interesting.

Have I missed something, or are they not selling an entry level V8 this time round?
Yes I wondered this.

Prefer look of the gen1 also, even if it's a bit big and heavy for my liking. I'll take a GT3 please. (if that were possible)

They have gone very straight edged like lambo's obsession with hexagons.

Also the rear lights strangely reminded me of this..

Should have gone to Specsavers!
I was also about to comment what was Dave trying to prove by posting pics of the same car from 2 different angles...

Utterly awful, dull as ditch water, looks like the front and rear of two different cars badly tacked together. How can leading automotive manufacturers get away with such unimaginative dross?

But then I guess Audi is consistent on that front, their 'styling' across the range is very, very bland. Looking at their sales figures, though, people must like it.

With their uncommon mid-engined format and unique side blade design, these are a joy to see on the motorway. Expensive. But not outrageously so.

Dour but well resolved.

The original has more character looks wise imo.

£40k for a second hand one just makes no sense to me... confused
-Great engine
-Great looks
-Great handling
-Handbuilt
-Aged very well for ten year old design

I think it looks very good, the performance figures are decent too and I'm sure it is a nice place to sit.

I know its cliche but I didn't expect an Audi R8 to cost £120,000! I thought they were sub £100k.

The V8 may be, if they later release one.

Bear mine mind that the Huracan is the best part of £200k.

R8 prices have been shooting up over the last few years

I bet with some choice options and the more powerful engine you can get it to 150k

Which would still be cheaper than a poverty spec Huracan. smile

This being VAG, isn't it about time they made a Skoda version of the R8 for about 80k with a slightly detuned engine? biggrin

of course, and i am sure lambo will flog you 50k's worth of carbon trim and other options

still utterly bonkers money for both cars

it never ceases to amaze me how many very rich people there are now that the car industry can flog such huge numbers of 100k+ cars to
