With their uncommon mid-engined format and unique side blade design, these are a joy to see on the motorway. Expensive. But not outrageously so.
Do you write press releases for car companies? Or perhaps automotive fortune cookies?xRIEx said:

I just thought we were having a bit of a chuckle; never mind, I'll try and judge the tone more accurately next time.
Not at all. I neglected to put an emoticon there, with my "hilarious." I was indeed joining you in a laugh. Sorry. A bit distracted on my end.Anyway, the R8...
The design of the old one has really grown on me. Its quite a subtle yet rather pretty looking thing in the correct colour scheme with fairly compact dimensions; this new one seems a real step backwards. It looks far too similar to the TT and has become too fussy and 'showy'.
Since reading the long term test in Evo I yearn for a Mk1 V10 with a manual gearbox.

I bet with some choice options and the more powerful engine you can get it to 150k
Which would still be cheaper than a poverty spec Huracan. still utterly bonkers money for both cars
it never ceases to amaze me how many very rich people there are now that the car industry can flog such huge numbers of 100k+ cars to

Why are cars getting wider and wider? Even more of a pain to park as more likely to get dinged by others plus too big for the best B roads. Is it to satisfy the "larger" customers to have more internal space? It to help with lateral grip and lap times?
Same question - what are the benefits of making the car 4cm wider? Side impact crash safety? The main thing I'd worry about with a car like this would be physical size, and the 911 is oft-praised for its compact dimensions and consequent usability. It would seem that a narrower car would be easier to use for daily driver duties in town, and also would let you enjoy quieter, narrower B-roads more. Also, I'm curious at the number of phantasmagorically-bejewelled headlight arrangements on so many modern cars. To me they're starting to resemble women who've spent far too much time in front of a mirror applying fancy eye make-up. In fact, how come no modern manufacturer has thought to add eyelashes copied from the forty-odd year old Lamborghini Miura?
How much do VW designers get paid? I'd love their job.
Mk6 to Mk7 Golf ... change the lights a bit and the grill ... new wheels. Done
TT old to tt new ... change the lights a bit and the grill ... new wheels. Done
R8 to new R8 ... change the lights a bit and the grill ... new wheels. Done.
The Gallardo to Huracan was a lot bigger change.
