The Auto box in the Supra's is actually very good.
As above. Perhaps Matt should consider doing some proper journalism, instead of merely recycling old, ill informed sound bytes.
I am on my fourth Supra, my second with the "yucky" auto gearbox.

If you would like to try one, you are welcome to come and try mine.
The MK4 Supra isn't a stripped out sports car, it is a 1600kg GT. The auto gearbox suits the character of the car perfectly. The legendary Getrag 6 speed manual gearbox is capable of coping with a simply enormous amount of torque, but it is not a particularly pleasant 'box to use. The shift is notchy and heavy, and offers very little feedback. The auto is capable of coping with circa 450lb/ft torque, making it capable of coping with any level of power the stock turbos can produce, and without an expensive clutch or gearbox to worry about.
Were it an MX5, an NSX, RX7 etc, I would be in total agreement about discounting the auto, but in the Supra it makes for a genuinely great car.
As I said before, I'm on my second auto. My other two mk4 Supras were 6 speed manuals.
