Heres what Chris Harris thought

Just seen this video, a great video by Chris Harris BTW, and really impressed with AMG's focus on mechanical engineering even down to working out the best sound to come out from the exhaust system. THIS is what made cars special in the heyday (60s) of the motorcar and great to see this appreciation continue in the modern age.

Great video too. Now, Jaguar, bring it on!

All of this talk of COMAND makes me wonder when Carplay is coming to the new C-class like this video shows

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCH0rdvnUh4

Don't know why the video repeats everything twice though

I like the look of the C63 will look at one when they land.

This car just looks soft. I had the previous model C63 and currently run a B8 RS4, I want to want this car but its styling precludes it, along with multimenu controls which sound even worse than the RS4's.

Mercedes (e63, c63) 2-0 BMW (M5, M3)

A properly engineered package. Makes the M3 conception look lazy IMO.

C63 hands down for me.

All looks fantastic and I am seriously considering one. However playing around with the configurator they have really taken away your freedom, you can't upgrade the stereo alone it has to be as part of the premium pack which includes keyless entry and ignition which I dont want for security reasons. And you can't blacken the chrome exterior bits it has to be part of the night package which tints the windows. All seems very restrictive when looking to spend £60k plus, you definetly want to get the car 100% as you want, very annoying.

Ignore the configurator and speak to a big dealer like Mercedes Brooklands and you can pretty much have what you want on an AMG as long as you're willing to pay. The Bermester is a bargain in that pack

Jesus! I can't believe the big iPod thing doesn't slide away into the dash! I just presumed it did! Terrible, terrible design.

The Merc is 120KG heavier, C63 saloon vs M4, I think the extra power and torque on the S model easily negates any weight disadvantage the Merc has.

I'd still take the M4 every time though.

Why is everyone getting their knickers in a twist about the sat nav? It sits up nicely in the view of the driver, without a huge binnacle surrounding it.

It does have huge bezel though, reminds me of the first tablets.

I was referring to a large instrument binnacle with great swathes of plastic surrounding it. By lifting up this tablet style sat nav, it is far more natural to view in the drivers line of sight.

Good point! Why don't manufacturers provide a mount for an i-Pad (just the space not the unit) so that the new and subsequent user can just slot in £400 worth of the latest pad. Just don't see why MB (along with everyone else insist on using 3/4 year old teck in their cars. An i-Pad would have great navigation (way better than the ancient MB effort) full vehicle readout (OBD2 bluetooth for £5) Internet access etc, the list goes on. Instead you have to pay thousands for last gen kit...
I'm lead to understand that they reason for manufacturers putting "iPads" on top of dashboards, is that they are easier to up date the opperating system when facelifts & up dates come along. The M-B C Class is better than some.

I understand the new Skoda Fabia has allows you to sync your phone up to the car & can use apps as sat nav etc - but that means no 3/4G, no sat nav & you'll need a higher data allowance on your mobile contract.

There are plenty of android sat nav apps which run entirely offline (and will presumably only use minimal data if you want traffic reports). smile

+1

The iDrive setup in my current car is hardly small.

It's a minor gripe with what is a fantastic car with an awesome interior (easily best in class in my opinion).

I do hope that they have updated the COMAND system though as it was pretty poor in my 2013 C63 Coupe and easily a generation behind the latest iDrive.

If you focus on the first 90% of the performance envelope, and maybe not the last 10%, why not give the S-version AWD as an option? Especially the wagon would be brilliant if it had AWD, it would be the complete daily driver. Fantastic engine, and engine note, good performance and something different than the RS4 Audi.

You are wrong here, the equivalent to the C63 is the M3, and not as you suggest, the M4. And the weight difference is 60 kg.
