To address the balance of dealers are spineless money grabbers. I have just received this enquiery via my aototrader site.

"Hi I'm intrested in your smax silver 2007 I have a civic 1.8 vtec ex sat nav ow07 xxx full service history 4 tyres at 5mm New pads and discs in good condition no advisory s on car previous owner was Honda mechanic car hasn't got any faults 63k miles I have agreed a deal for a Ford galaxy and I'm supposed to be getting it on Sunday and he has given me 4500 px for mine so I'm 2000 grand to change for the galaxy but I do like the smax I have had carbon wrap put on bonnet by moray tints 3 months ago just to protect bonnet but bonnet is in good nic as you can see on pics just before I got wrap put on what kind of deal could we do cheers"

Nice eh? Due the bashing us traders get i grab any chance to highlight the moral compass of the general public, i also like to state thet in 20 years in the trade i have never been "done" by anyone in the trade, Mr joe public on the other hand have tried many a time. smile. Oh , and my response is below. smile

"Hello, thanks for your interest, unfortunately i dont do business by stepping on others toes in the hope that no one would do it to me. If you have done a deal then you must honour it. Who ever you are buying from will have gone to effort to get YOUR new car ready for YOU. Its simply not fair nor gentlemanly to renege on a deal like that. Imagine you turn up on sunday and the dealer has sold it to someone else? I dont imagine you would be impressed? Please dont take as a lecture, more a realisation that car dealers have morals. Thanks again for your interest and perhaps we will do business again in the future."

What a load of st.

In my 20 odd years of dealing with secondhand traders they've tried it on 75% of the time.

It's got FSH get there look at history it's part history, bodywork in great condition(it's not) 40,000 miles on the clock actually has 48,000.

Everyone is out to get the best deal they can.

I'm just glad I don't have to communicate with customers via email. Sod reading and replying to that kind of crap for a living.

Surely he's put a deposit down(none refundable)dealers lost fk all.
He's just seeing if what he's getting from that dealer is what most dealers are offering.

£2m is indeed pretty high for an S-Max, my last one was only £1.35m.

Fair play to you actually, and bonus points for getting "renege" into your response. Not that chavvyboi will know what that means...
