Hi, I'm new to these forums as I've decided to finally take the plunge and get myself a hot hatch for weekend use and the occasional drive to work. I'm looking to spend about £3k and looking for a sub 7 second 0-60 time. I'm thinking no more than 100,000 miles on the clock. What would your suggestions be as there are so many options out there?

Many thanks for any advice.

The Clio 182 seems to cover all your requirements.

I have a 182 with the cup packs and it is great car for having a bit of fun and I find it alright to travel in as well. I have a stainless on it so its a wee bit noisier at 70mph but you have all the luxuries you could wish for such as cruise, speed limiter, auto lights and wipers, xenons etc.

I get about 30mpg usually but have seen it rise to 42mpg on a motorway so no complaints here. My wife loves the car as well as she finds it easy to park.

Renault 225? Should be able to pick up a Trophy/Cup for £3k.

Also 325ti - under 7 to 60 and available at 3k and under
Lasts pretty well.compared to some of the others recommended plus you get a lovely 6-Cylinder burble if you're bothered re exhaust noise

Honda civic type r all day long...

Loved mine!

Don't worry about the miles as much, on the provision that it has no warning lights, a full history and a recent clutch, they are pretty reliable

An early one which will immediately cost you a grand and will then proceed to screw you over for another couple in the following months.

Entry fee for 225 ownership is 5k plus cos you want a low mileage young one and even then youd better hope it wasnt built on friday. Brilliant cars but expensive to fix and very high bork factor

1*2 is the answer to this question at this price - they are brilliant cars, relatively cheap to keep and have relatively low bork factor compared to the meg

If you're not using it daily I'd go with the above suggestion a 205 GTi, or something a bit older generally. Not sure I could have a VAG product as a second car.
