Hello.

I'm new here. I'm just popping over from your adopted sister site: Mumsnet.

I took my car into a garage a week and a half ago for an MOT. It needed a couple of parts but I believe it's taking waaaaaay to long. I ring up fairly often and get told the person who knows about it has just gone out and he'll ring me back and then he never does. I was waiting for a ring today, but they closed up and went home instead. In short, I feel I just can't trust them. They had ordered a part for it and said it would be put on Friday. Should I just tell them I'm picking it up on Tuesday morning? And if they've not put the bit on they ordered that's their problem? Also the MOT runs out today so would I still be able to get it to a competent garage by driving, or would I need to get it towed.

Any advice welcome.

If it's on route to an mot that's already booked you are ok on the road.

Garage sounds unreliable to me, get your car back and tell them to fk off.

Did they say what parts it needed?

The problem with going there and expecting to be able to take it back and drive somewhere else could be that it is missing certain bits (lets say it needed a bottom arm replacing or a new wheel bearing and has been stripped down in preparation for the new part fitting).

I'd personally be tempted to rock up in person and ask them what is going on. No callbacks when promised is a pet peeve of mine!

It needs some wheels. My alloys are a bit bent but they still hold the air. There is the chance they'll take them off so I can't drive away.

I think i'd certainly make a appearance unannounced just to make sure it's as genuine as they say. I'm sure it is but i'd still be a bit suspicious from what you say, thats just me though.

Still can't believe you can't swear on here!

If you could read what I just posted on Mumsnet your ears would melt or something.

Bent wheels are a fail.

How old is the car ?and what is the car ?

are the wheels original equipment or aftermarket fitted ?...which might explain the delay.

The wheels were hard to find but they said they located some on Monday. And then they said they had them on Friday and would fit them and retest later that day. All sounds like a load of...er...natural bovine fertilizer?
