No more popping down the scrappy and pulling bits off a higher spec model (normally teetering on top of a stack of 3 other cars) either

We used to steal so many bits from the local scrap yard, if you couldn't put it in your toolbox we used to throw it over the fence at the back and then go back later.

I may have also deliberately tipped over a few stacks

One of the other MP project cars I remember was a pink Mk4 or 5 Escort with a WRC kit fitted, anyone else remember that one?

Remember a guy called Hans used to write for them. Was his quad turbo Uno a pisstake or was it genuine?

Oh and I think I'm right in saying Vicki Butler Henderson started off at Max Power...
Yep, but I think she was an editor/assistant editor rather than a model smile

I remember one issue with a "babe" called Danni I think, she was posing with a football and an england top. I planned to make her my future wife but it never happened, she had a lovely pair though.

Project 2000! I thought that car was amazing. I bought Max Power religiously when I was at uni. My uni bag was even a Max Power bag.... oh dear.. hehe I even went to Max Power Live 1997! Lordy boxedin

I remember some guy putting two VR6 engines in a mk3 and calling it a VR12. Bright blue iirc.

Found it!

Ian Birch of Dubsport fame IIRC.

I saw that very car parked up in Mulsanne during last years Le Mans weekend...still looked fresh and clean. Bought happy memories of that teenage period of Max Power obsession. Glad I kept all my old copies smile

Fast Car still gets the occasional model in, or the female owner dresses up a bit and is in far more photos than a bloke would be. But it's changed a lot since back when it competed with Max Power.

I actually bought an Uno Turbo off the back off a copy of MP after all my mates got Renault 5GTT's. God I loved that car. Useless in the corners but rapid in a straight line, with classic old school turbo power delivery. It felt SO fast moving into turbocharged cars after the initial Nova SR/GTE's and Pug GTI's. I used to go over a speed bump and see if I could hit 60mph before having to brake for the next one hehe

I could, for the record cool

If I could find a decent Fiat Uno Turbo i.e. I'd buy it today as a keeper.

Good times.

I too bought an Uno Turbo after reading the Max Power buyers guide! Out of all the cars I have owned, that is the one I remember most fondly. I sold it to buy a Peugeot 205 1.6 GTi and remember being bitterly disappointed at how slow the 205 felt.

There are hardly any left now, but a few years ago an immaculate low mileage one appeared on eBay, I so wish I had bought it.

I too looked at an Uno turbo. I remember the stats and write up section at the back. The comment I always remember about the Uno was ‘Goes quickly, especially on the sills’

Any way, I ended up with a Swift GTI that too went quickly on the sills.

To be honest I mainly bought it for Jakki Degg though sperm

Yep based in ferndown, dorset. Shut down a while back. A friend used to own the Citroen AX from the movie which was purple till he crashed it and put himself in a coma.
Bad times!

Dawson's old R32 demo car, the 3 tone flip painted one on hydraulic suspension is around Stoke now, not seen it for a bit though think it's just parked up. Was looking slightly rough last time I saw it.
I nearly bought that car from that garage but it was automatic, the hydraulics were leaking and filling the boot and the interior was terrible. Pretty to look at though.

I used to get my mum to buy me max power fast car and redline back in the day think it was about 1997 when I was 13 only thrown all the Mags out about 5 yrs ago when I moved out!

I'm sure Lauren Pope used to be a model that starred regular with her assets out? Is that the same one on towie? (Don't watch owt like that so not sure)
Chantelle houghton also appeared cavorting a speed camera with her boobs out too!

Can't believe max power was one of the biggest mags out there with their own shows (max power live) and now it's no more, just shows how things can quickly turn!

i used to love that project 2000 and wasn't its colour karmin rotte or something

Ended up reading redline until they shut down and I enjoyed that mag and some of their dvds
