Finding idiots to sell crap to under the guise of producing a brand, doesn't make you an entrepreneur, it's been done a million times before, it makes you an oxygen thief. If this is the way of the industry, or subdivisions of it are heading, count me out. I'd rather be seen getting out of a sheep.

Blimey ... sounds like a rant of mainly jealousy at people with enough disposable to squander with a hint of opinion on the garishness

realistically speaking Kahn customers are far from DSS payments since their average 'chelsea truck' runs £40k plus. They do quite a decent trade in modified Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited's.

Wealth for at least the past few generations has rarely been linked to class or intelligence, the former it shouldnt be linked to, unless you want to live in an elitist utopia (which by definition it can never be) and the latter can quite happily be argued that the people who are genuinely very intelligent often are not concerned with finances and never become 'super-rich'

I dont quite understand how the gentleman in question here is less of a visualist than the people in the original design house, I would counter that he is more of a visionary for thinking truly outside the box of normality and pulling something together that splits the mould altogether.

Yep, 6x4. They've used another Defender rear axle, hence the diff, but there's no way to connect it up. Where "real" working 6x6s have been done, then either there's a second nose needed on the back of the mid axle, or the axle casing is flipped, the diff goes on the other side and is driven from the PTO.

But since it'll probably bend at the first sight of a grass verge...
Wrong, it is 6x6.
There is a proper engineered solution resulting in a drive-though centre axle similar to those used on tandem drive truck axles.
It isn't a re-hash of any 6x6 drive-through axle that has been used in the past.

Feel free to explain more, preferably with pics. Because that centre axle doesn't look to have any way to pass drive backwards from that pic. OK, that might just be a mule, but...

I'd like to share details but the design being considered for a patent application.

I'm not a patent expert but I think putting it on display at the Geneva show might undermine the patent application. But if they haven't got as far as putting the application in yet the car is a long way from ready to show publicly surely? If a genuine buyer were to ask about it how would they answer?

I believe Jimmy Hill would be an appropriate meme at this juncture.

Do I rant because of my deep rooted financial insecurities? Erm, no. I just think it's just awful, and deserves to have the piss taken.

I meant "class", in the phrase "that gentleman is pure class", rather than proposing some socio-economic dystopia. I just think people who are vacuous wkers should have less money. If you don't also judge people in this manner then I would say you're Jesus Christ and claim my five pounds, or a liar.

Visualist? Did you mean visionary? He puts tat on cars. It's nothing like as respectable the hard work and engineering that goes into the manufacturing of the original manufacturer of a prestige 4x4 which is diminished when you bang some bling on it.

I love the way that Kahn initially said in their press releases that the reason for the extended nose was because they were fitting the big V8.

Despite Twisted and many others managing it.

I took this pic of the Longnose under bonnet area at Geneva yesterday, absolute comedy:

I should add, they rather hurriedly came over and shut the bonnet after they saw me taking a pic. Maybe I shouldn't have opened the bonnet.... whistle

I didn't understand that as a reason, had they said it is to produce a front/mid engined car it would be understandable. But does that really matter in a 4x4, 6x4 or 6x6 anyway?

How do you know how much hard work or engineering is put into the "tat" Kahn design puts on to cars?
You do of course know that the original landrover was designed in a matter of months. This conversion has probably taken longer to engineer than the original prototype.

Im not a fan of Kahn or their products, but do know they dont deserve to have the piss taken out of them. They are out there doing what they want and making money from it. All power to them.

I should probably also add that its complete manure, given the bonnet has been open all day.

Is the centre axle presently fitted for Geneva show the one being considered for a patent application?
Maybe not.

Not sure anyone is knocking him as a business owner, fair play to the guy for starting his own company and making a success of it. Same goes for the owner of Crocs.

In much the same way that doesn't stop someone from saying their product is tacky looking crap

Because I have eyes and a basic grasp of engineering. Just look at the picture above of the engine bay for example.

I'm struggling to see how production methods in 1948 of a different vehicle are relevant, even then I sincerely doubt it took less effort than reproducing what others have already done. This is nothing new as is repeatedly shown on this thread.

"Doing what they want and making money from it"? That's all it takes to deserve respect beyond criticism is it? Just like the cast of 'Jersey shore', or 'Made in Chelsea' then. They provide entertainment to masses, they must therefore be artists and fantastic entertainers. All power to them.
