Kudos to Koenigsegg - this has to be one of the cars of the show for me. Loads of interesting new ideas and an utterly insane total power figures with suitably crazy numbers to match.

I can only imagine a drive in that thing must be close to hitting the hyperdrive button in the Millennium Falcon smile

I'd argue Paganis don't have to. They aren't a Lamborghini rival - they're not competing with them for sales either. The technology is there and available - the Mercedes-Benz partnership sees to that. Pagani simply do not have to rush anything into production.

Competing just isn't their style. Uniqueness is, however.
All I said before was that they are behind Lamborghini, i.e. in tech and performance. No one mentioned style or uniqueness, which have nothing to do with it!
My point is the mere comparison to Lamborghini is absurd. That's why mentioning Pagani as "behind" is incorrect. They aren't in the same market.
Of course they are in the same market!
Cost price of £250,000 vs £1.6 million? They are miles apart, the cars are produced per customer, and can be customised far further and even request major changes to fundamentals of the car. A certain type of customer wants this. Hence a completely different market.

Chances are the person who buys a Pagani, already has a Lamborghini.

Again, what you have said is nothing to do with performance and technology and the fact that Pagani are behind Lamborghini. The high cost compared to the other top end hypercars, let alone the Lambo just proves how far behind they now are

What is it you are having trouble understanding?

The type of customer who purchases a Pagani, would not care for the latest technology or a hybrid supercar as he would already have one, as said. He/she would want a personal, bespoke experience. Something equally as special.

You seem to percieve every high end manufacturer is competing for the same market - they aren't. At the prices these machines cost it is all about exclusivity and not following every single automotive trend - just cherry picking what suits their product without damaging the brand, keeping it's customers loyal, it's engineering at a high standard and able to price accordingly with a good turnover and profit.

I understand everything you have posted and to a certain extent agree! I haven't perceived anything as I didn't bring up the points of price or exclusivity, all I was doing was responding to a poster who mentioned pagani and I said that Lamborghini where ahead of pagani as far as tech and performance where concerned! Which bit of that is it you don't understand as I think I been quite simple and to the point from the start?

As stated they aren't ahead because they aren't in the same market.

Oh and as for performance - have you seen the statistics for the Huayra?

Tip: it weighs under 1350kg, has more power and more torque.

It's also massively more expensive than the Lambo.

I think it would probably drive alot better too! We also need to remember that the Huayra has not reached it's "editions" stage yet, which would suggest that it can be tuned to take on the likes of the P1 and LaFerrari without a problem at all. the base car is extremely light, so lopping another 100kg, 150bhp mated with its active aero from this will successfully see to it.

IMO
