Brilliant cars just keep an eye on the intercooler and youll be fine, only other issue of note is the fuel pressure regulator, around £140.
If your handy you can buy a universal fmic kit off ebay which gave me more power, better mpg and less smoke. It was sround£75 but a bit of fabrication is involved and relocate the map sensor.
Got a link or more info on this part? FMIC= Front Mount InterCooler? Does it not already have this?

The standard intercooler is top mounted and the construction is crimped edges. The crimps fail and they end up leaking. The usual thing to do is replace with a welded version of the original TMIC. I've not seen a FMIC on an X Trail.

Ahh, ok. Makes sense. I work in a automotive machine shop and we bend tube so this would be an easy mod if need be. Thanks for that.

I bought a petrol 2.5 2004 over a year ago. It went back to the supplier for faults many times and is still there after many months. I think we'll be heading to Court soon.

Present fault..It ticks over but stops when throttle is applied.

Seems the fuel filter is sealed inside the tank. When fuel drops to a certain level, the problem occurs. It's been suggested that a previous owner put diesel in the tank, which has gunked up part of the filter.

PS...check the 4 wheel drive is working. I found a mucky layby to do starts in 2 and 4 wheel drive. Front wheels spin if 4 WD isn't working or not selected.
