Factory turbo 4 pots over 300hp

Golf R
Audi S3
Imprezas
Evos go far beyond.
Even volvo are getting in on it http://gas2.org/2013/08/19/volvo-reveals-300-hp-tu... not sure of capacity of those.
the Leon cupra is 280 and IIRC only restricted by software to prevent rivaling golf R and S3
Astra VXR is close on 280 too, that engine is 300hp in the states.
Focus will be 2.3 but 350hp apparently.
Don't forget the AMG A class, at 355bhp from two litres.

Current Impreza that you can buy is a 300ps four, but it's a 2.5 litre. You can't buy a new Evo at the moment.

Going aftermarket there are several corsa VXRs getting over 300hp from a 1.6.
Hell SBD had a 1.4 16v vauxhall engine doing 270hp normally aspirated and that was 15+ years ago!

Should they choose do any manufacturer could get 300hp from a 2 litre 4 pot.
Golf 296
Audi 296
Impreza 2.5 litre
Evo - still for sale?
Leon - 280 im sure all manufacturers could up the boost lol
Volvo - not yet for sale
Astra - 276
Focus 2.3litre

Not sure what aftermarket has anything to do with this? They dont have to be designed to adhear to current emissions regs.

I think the Mercedes is the only viable one... I also think that the OP wasnt just referring to the engine which you seemed to pinpoint. It couldnt have broken the fwd nurburg record if it wasnt well engineered.

If you want to nitpick, no-one mentioned engine size, we were talking turbo 4s.

The point about the Leon was that its artificially constrained for commercial reasons.

Either way, I don't see this car has a level of engineering that is "unsurpassed".

If you want to go chasing ring times then there is more time on the clock out of many cars, just a case of what compromises you'll make to get it.

All this doesn't change the fact that the car is ugly and has been cheapened from the concept.

You were the one nit picking, i was just trying to compare apples with apples...

As for the cheap ugly comment, it isnt fact.... thats just your opinion and one that not everyone shares

300hp from a turbo 4 is hardly unique is it.
I didn't suggest that it was smile
