Yep looked at this a few times. Minimum is £40k and still needs a fair bit to get it to proper RS spec.
Guards red is very common and very dull imo

Amaranth purple for me.

It's funny looking back. When I bought my Tuscan 12 years ago, my short list was either the TVR, 964 RS or 964 Turbo 2, all of which were around 25k. That was in the days when mags like 911 & PW had the 964 RS on the lists of worst Porsches made due to it being too hard and uncompromising. I wonder if they'd be happy to stand by that opinion now.

Yep its getting a bit silly. Back in those days (or a few years afterwards) my 996 Turbo was new at £88,000. And ironically could have been purchased for as little as maybe £20k back in 2010? I do wonder if the aircooled bubble will ever "pop"?!

Hmmm, I had a chance to buy a white 964RS imported from...Singapore I think....back in about 2000. It would have cost £20k which was pushing it for me so I went with the 964C4 for about £13k instead.

Oh how I laugh when I now look at the values of RS'

Recaro Pole Position seats. They're a common choice but that's because they're both sexual and awesome.

Looking forward to seeing pics of it in Mint Green, always loved that colour on a Porsche.

Just in case you're not committed yet, can I throw in a suggestion of Cobalt Blue as something bright but classy and not in your face?

I do like cobalt, I had a midnight blue 996 c 2 for a while a summer ago and it actually worked ok with the grey interior. Cobalt has a bit more "zing" I'll grant you, but I really think the 964 lines are suited to something a bit bolder.

As an aside, for many years I have really desired a riviera blue porsche but having looked at the 993 v 964 I think its fair to say that the 993 in my opinion somehow suits it more, especially the "s" wider body red lipstick line editions. So with the 964 it seems I have three choices...

1. Stick with and respray guards red (I've done gr on my 924 and 968 before and I'm not a huge fan)
2. Go different but not mental (cobalt, midnight, possibly the ruby stone)
3. Go bonkers and make it stand out.

Ps - my 996 turbo was seal grey on black and although "less exciting" the 996 looks superb in slate or seal grey, so much better than silver. It's funny how certain shapes and colours seem to fit together

By the way... "Wow" I wonder what that £20k would be now if your had tucked it away for 15 years, compared to the RS now. I'm not sure what they are selling at but I am informed by a chap who knows a euro dealer that very good ones are getting snapped up for close to or on the asking price. Sometimes even a bidding war. A lot of them seem to be heading back to Asia and Austrailia, which is why your Singapore reference reminded me...

I spoke to compomotivr on Friday, nothing doing on the THs, in fact nothing on the comps at all, they presently have "no wheels for 5 x 130 pcd" at all which is a bit of a shame.

Having said that I like the cup 1 s (not cup 2s bit too 'soft and rounded') and no car in the world looks worse with bbs LMs on them! smile

Great colour smile in fact the best but rs needs bright colours.

Rubystone for me, for an rs.

If you are completely respreying that grey they use for ltd edition a few years back would be a great choice.

Just HAS to be Maritime Blue. This pic doesn't even do it justice. Such an incredible Pastel Pastiche, it really shows off the cars contours perfectly....
