Thought I'd give an update..

After a bit of motivation Tyreleader have become much more responsive. They offered to replace the old rears that they sent me with 4915 DOT ones, but by that point I had already reordered them from Camskill so declined. They then arranged for collection of the tyres (via Tufnells) which happened on the 18th. They have today replied to my ticket proactively saying that they are going to [sic] "contact the acccounting department immediately in order to ask for your refund as soon". I don't yet know if they are going to try and levy the "£25 per tyre" return charge, they had better not try...

Don't know how much of this was motivated by my chargeback with Barclays, but they became very responsive after a long period of complete silence.

A real shame that my first order with them turned out this way, because the customer service they are providing now is the kind that instills confidence in people who are ordering from a company with no obvious telephone number or email contact.

They are and remain the cheapest supplier I've seen but I couldn't in good conscience recommend them to anyone who is either in a hurry or doesn't have the stomach for a fight if it doesn't turn out perfectly. As it is I had to spend an additional £525 rebuying the rear tyres, waste time at work collating evidence and filling out forms to file a chargeback request, because I had no confidence Tyreleader would resolve my complaint quickly (and until a week or so ago there was total radio silence). Camskill by contrast, whilst more expensive, replied to my emails very quickly and were very reassuring.

All things considered you would have to weigh up whether or not it is worth saving £50 for the chance of a bucketload of grief. Having gone through what I went through, and it sounds like I got off lightly compared to others and had the benefit of the threat of chargeback to use against them, I wouldn't use them again.

Interesting thoughts Durzel. I had exact opposite with TL, ordered Wed AM delivered to my fitter by close of business Friday. Exactly as ordered & tyres dated 4215.

Having read your experience I'm not sure I would use them again now & think I'd consider the £50 more elsewhere as an 'insurance' premium.

Like you I would not recommend them either. Unrelated I know, but had cause to speak with my insurer yesterday. I had to Google their details as I had no paperwork with me & whilst on hold I read the reviews there. Looks like I have been lucky with them too because all bar one of the reviews were bad! I'm a rate tart with my insurance so doubt il be renewing with them anyway.

Do these companies not realise the power if the www? Especially one that's internet only.

With the balance of the £ and Euro swinging, and DPD finally starting to up their rates to deliver tyres into the UK, I'm not sure tyreleader will be the default choice for too much longer.

Hi All,

I have ordered from tyreleader many times and the order arrived on time. I ordered beginning of Feb on a Friday and had the tyres on a Tuesday.

HOWEVER, I ordered motorcycle tyres mid February and they never arrived. Tyreleaders 'Eunice' and 'Marie' admitted they were lost by courier, asked me to fill a form (which I duly did), and they said accounting department would check and authorise and they would then get back to me soon about refund. They have now gone silent and not replying to my tickets/messages.

I have requested a chargeback from my bank for the Visa debit, and Visa dispute team will dispute on my behalf.

I will no longer use tyreleader despite ordering for the last 2-3 years and never having a problem (even when I ordered the same motorcycle tyre a year back). However, their poor customer service means that when things go wrong, you will have a lot of hassle to make any progress in resolving the issue.

I had to re-order from mytyres - I hope they are better.

Interesting. Keep them coming, I'd love to see these s go out of business.

In the end the Money went back on my credit card. With no response or explanation about the whole debacle from Tyreleader.

If you use Tyre Leader, it is best to adopt some form of religion, so you can pray to the relevant God / higher being / alien etc.

This will most likely yield faster ressults than dealing with their internal email only 'customer service' Should your order go 'missing' like so many seem to!

....aaand another good Oponeo experience.

Used their 'slow service' this time. Still had the tyres <3 working days.

2x Michelin PS3s. 275 40 19. About £160 per tyre delivered.

DOT: 21 16

Cheap as chips. To be honest, I cant see myself buying tyres anywhere else ever again.

I was going to try and rain on your parade and find somewhere cheaper, but Oponeo are insanely cheap for that tyre in that size at the moment!

That said, they were £149 on 6th September. I'm going to blame Britex.

I've used Oponeo a couple of times now and find them the cheapest for what I need when I need it. I've occasionally seen Camskill or others have the tyres listed cheaper but not always in stock.

Oponeo just seems to have the best combination of stock, price and delivery time.

I wish I'd seen this thread. Tyreleader, utterly useless, utterly.
I wanted a eagle asymm 2, they had some. They stuffed up the first collection with dpd so that delayed it a week, finally sent another only, after 2 weeks of waiting, for it to be asymm 3. Utterly useless comms system.
I'm sure they just have about 20 stock phrases which they use as replies. None actually address the problem and definitely don't reply to whatever you write. They keep to their T+Cs by posting something every 24hrs - rubbish usually, but something.
Only marginal upside is that they appear not to be contesting a refund even though they seem to have dispatched another tyre which I have left them in no doubt that I don't want. That will just get refused on delivery but I have to get the fitting garage to refuse it as they will deliver there.
Apparently they tried to collect the first one even though it isn't at the garage, as I collected it, but they knew that.
Utterly useless, avoid like the plague unless you are in no hurry and they are very cheap.

SO LOTS OF EMAILS LATER I WAS GETTING NOWHERE SO I CONTACTED MY BANK WHO DONE A CHARGE BACK MY BANK CONTACTED THE AND SO MY BANK HAD THE £25 TAKEN FROM THERE BANK AND RETURN TO ME...

BUT THIS IS NOT THE END .. THEY RECHARGED ME 25 POUNDS, 3 MONTHS LATER... I HAD TO GET MY CARD COMPANY TO REFUSE IT AND THEN BLOCK TYRELEADER FOR BEINGABLE TO TAKE ANY CARD PAYMENTS AS THIS IN TO ONLY WAY TO STOP IT HAPPENING AGAIN.

That’s a sign of how infuriating they are when they make you do a first post after 10 years!

I've bought quite a few pairs of tyres from Tyre Leader over the past 5 years and never had any problems, the price difference v's UK discounted ebay tyre sellers is lower these days due to the crumbling £ v's euro but Tyre Leader are still cheap and not had any issues with their service (just make sure you dont order the wrong tyres for your car!)
