Merc C300 diesel hybrid. Might not quite work for you but is a good company car choice. The 2 top spec AMG ones though just pip £40k list.
Good shout that - hybrid CO2 tax is low!!
It's not as good as you would imagine.
Is the C350E (petrol / electric) in budget?
Now that really is low on the CO2!!

A colleague on our car scheme got a Chevrolet Volt. About £35k list and the tax B.I.K. is just 5%!!!
That's almost free motoring.
He also convinced the company to fit a couple of electric charging points in the company parking lot.
I drove it around the car park. Can't say I "liked" it, but it wastn't too bad.

0-60 in 5.9 seconds too.
Looks a bit dull as it's only available in one trim level, but technically it sounds very good indeed.

Some blurb here:

what calculator are you using?

assuming a standard rate tax payer for the C300 bluetech hyrid amgline

Monthly costs for tax year: 2014 / 2015
Benefit in Kind (BIK cost): £83.37
Private Usage Contribution: £0.00
Company Car cost total: £83.37
Private fuel BIK tax cost: £47.02

Edit: SE Executive is £65.97 and £39.78 for fuel assuming a 20% tax payer

I wish I paid 20%.

5% BIK for the C350e

£40k car.

BIK = £2000 pa

45% tax = £900 pa = £67.50pm

Fuel tax for fuel card

5% * £21,700 = £1,085 pa = £90pm.

Total tax is £157.50 pm

I also lose my cash allowance in lieu of company car of £12k which is £7,200

So total cost per annum of the car is (12 * £157) + £7200 = £9084 pa or £757 pm all in including fuel.

Not bad.
