I understand there is a price for perfection but that is what turns this car into a museum/collectors piece, never to be driven again. Honestly, we spend time musing over spending £100k on a fantasy garage, who in their right mind would swap any of these whole "garages" (and another £80 grand) for this pretty but wheezy roadster?

That's where your 800bhp/1,100lb ft torque, 4WD Brabus estate car comes in handy.A real car for a change. One that's lasted 50 years and will last another 50 years, providing stylish, comfortable and 'adequate' performance whilst mostly being within the repair capabilities of a good DIY'er.......Makes most modern cars seem exactly what they are, frivolous, overcomplicated, five minute fashion st.
I'm a huge Pagoda fan. The way prices are going, I doubt I'll ever afford one, but I have several friends who own them (they're extremely popular here in the 'States). I wouldn't expect to pay more than $100,000 for even the nicest example. The price quoted doesn't jibe with the current market, at all.
As to the 300SL price, have you seen the way prices have gone on those? Gullwings have been going for $2-4 Million for some time (depending on steel or alloy body). Naturally, the prices on roadsters have gone up, proportionally. Brabus' price is certainly more than the current market, but not by such a huge margin. It's not a huge stretch of the imagination to believe that in a few years they'll be worth even more.
Is it worth paying a premium for what is probably the best in the world?
I'll leave the answer to that question in the hands of people who are much, much more fortunate than I!
