1) Don't do Wales for obvious reasons, not sure it's even physically possible to have 'fun' there
2) Quite happy with my 640d GC, and I'm not trying to pretend it's anything other than a 'diseasal barge/hatchback [actually it's a saloon]'. Have other cars for teh fun thing. I'm guessing you actually took the time to look at my profile, which is quite sad really, isn't it?

All the naysayers putting it down saying it's 'lethargic' and the rest ? It's an affordable, nice handling, little, reliable, and very competent sports car that gives an MX5 a good run for it's money, even more or less comparable to the hallowed E30 M3 of yesteryear. Not a half million quid 800 hp wundercar. If there's any criticism it must be in its totally dull and generic appearance when actually viewed in the flesh. Imo of course
Why is PH trying to drum up business for a company which doesn't seem to have a clue with this car? The primo is the only version which makes sense but even then it comes on the heavy chav looking 17" wheels rather than the 16" ones. Toyota need to sell a stripped down version (no A/C etc), range of simple solid colours on 16" wheels for £19.995 (which if one looks is what primo's are available for on discount).
The satisfaction of grabbing 3rd just before the limiter flat out and hearing a slight chirp from the tyres outweighs sitting on a wave of torque for me. The GT86 rewards you for trying to drive better, encouraging you to drop a gear into a corner, heel and toe-ing just because it's fun, and getting the revs up ready to floor it out of the corner, feeling the tyres scrabble a little as you feed the power in. Sure you might not keep up with the hatchback in front but your ego shouldn't be that fragile. Who cares if an Audi has a better stereo, or better plastics, why are you spending all your time stroking them anyway? I'd rather be grinning like a moron with the engine singing than cruising down the road cocooned in a euro-box with the driving experience equivalent of beige.
I still don't see why 155bhp/tonne is so inadequate for everyone, yes it's not the fastest car but when can you actually use all the power most modern cars have? Other that when you've cocked up pulling out of a junction and need to floor it to avoid being rear ended, or to compensate for poor timing of a probably unnecessary overtake...

Although people seem to be suggesting that they are quite rare, I actually see quite a few GT86s around Trafford/South Manchester/Cheshire.
I'd like to try one. More low rpm torque is often a good thing, but the roads aren't a race and most people don't push their cars (I can't remember the last time I was overtaken on a 2 lane road whilst driving my big non-sporty diesel estate)

Although I'd not recommend a GT86 as a daily driver, on country roads it's a lot more fun to drive than most BMWs. Off the line it is a bit of a disappointment, but once you're up and away it's a wonderful thing.
As for your comment on driving in Wales I can only assume you've never been. Lots of wonderful roads that reward enthusiastic and skilled drivers, but please do look out for the (often suicidal) sheep...
