Post pictures of interesting filling stations and garages you come across: small, picturesque, disused, derelict or recycled - anything eye catching. Then and Now pics would be good too.

This one is in Llandrindod Wells. I had to stop the car and walk back.

When I searched on "Pritchard & Sons Llandrindod Wells" they are now Funeral Directors. That's a Change of Business Planning Application I would have liked to have seen.

79.9p per litre? So, not a million years ago it was still functioning like this.

This is near home in Newbury. Mrs C says it would make a brilliant diner.

It also has a claim to fame as the first filling station in the country to have electric fuel pumps.

When I first came to Newbury in the 90s it was a tyre bay.

There's a tiny filling station not far from me. Only has two pumps and shed. I will try and remember to take a pic next time.

Any good, boss?

Where I grew up used to have a few small filling stations, it was on a trans Pennine route, the A640, just before it headed out over the moors. All gone since the M62 bullied it's way through the middle of the village.

There's one up the A505 from Letchworth just before the first set of speed cameras, if anyone knows that.

Two pumps and a shed?

It sounds idyllic.

Sounds like the Highlands. I stopped in one like that next to a Loch & had to wait for the barmaid in the hotel to get a quiet moment to come over & sell petrol.

Llysworney Garage, between Barry and Bridgend.

I'll go back and read that yellow notice. It can't really say it's a listed building, can it?

Colyford in Devon this afternoon.

It was closed so I'm unable to report if it still functions. It did fairly recently as I have filled up there in living memory. There is a small museum out the back so it may just be a big advert now.

There are loads around here in the villages, these are some that spring to mind:

Aldwincle garage, in the next village to me. It is owned by my mate's uncle.
It made the news in the late 80's when he was foolishly welding a petrol tank and it exploded!
He was burnt really badly, but ran back in to shut off the pumps which stopped them going up too.

Its so small the ramps are outside:

Petrol station and Ford dealership in Oundle, the fuel is still attendant service (useless fact: Derek who serves has been there since at least the early 90's, thats his red Golf)

Elton garage, still in use

Raunds, which has a tiny forecourt! The van on the left is parked on the side of the road

One of my favourites, on the high street in Olney

No photos but I remember a small used car showroom in Bristol stop selling cars at the start of the financial crisis and started selling Christmas Trees instead. I think they're back to selling cars again.

There's a traditional garage/filling station fit for this thread in Aldeburgh and there was one in Abersoch, although I've not visited either for a long time and they may have gone since.
