I drive past this one regularly, it's near Avonwick, on the road between Totnes & Plymouth.
Always has prices way over the odds, and the shop never looks like there's someone in there, but I'm presuming it's still open because the prices still change
I pass that everyday, and very occasionally I see a car in there. It's hard to understand how they remain in business though, and the petrol must be pretty rancid!Always has prices way over the odds, and the shop never looks like there's someone in there, but I'm presuming it's still open because the prices still change

This was a working petrol station in Abbots Bromley until fairly recently, not sure what's become of it now as I haven't been by for a while.

There's one or two really nice little ones built into the corners of 1930s apartments blocks in London. Park Lane:Sloane Avenue:
There used to be a really random one buried in between Park lane and Bond Street that all the black cabs went to, but I'm damned if I can find it on street view now.
Back in my neck of the woods we have this little beauty in the next village - that's m y mate's old 4x4 outside...

Great thread!
This one is in Alford, not far from Aberdeen. Not as cool/retro as some on here but it makes me smile when I see it: https://goo.gl/maps/kMzQB
My mate at School worked there on Saturdays. This one is in Alford, not far from Aberdeen. Not as cool/retro as some on here but it makes me smile when I see it: https://goo.gl/maps/kMzQB
We went to Alford Academy. The local ambulance driver had an old NC24 VFR 400 honda he gave me a shot off on a pissing wet day, got me hooked on Honda's
Oddly enough he was the attending paramedic when i got admitted to hospital last year with very bad chickenpox

The Gibb, which may well qualify as a hamlet rather than a village, on the B4039 to Castle Combe has a filling station up for sale. When it was functioning, The Gibb Garage was a Mercedes specialist amongst other things.
The Merc chap is still there, although his collection of borderline scrappers has been steadily diminishing. Hullavington, just north of the M4:
Pumps have been covered up for a while now.

Colyford in Devon this afternoon.
It was closed so I'm unable to report if it still functions. It did fairly recently as I have filled up there in living memory. There is a small museum out the back so it may just be a big advert now.
The filling station stopped supplying petrol back in 2001, as covered here. I actually remember the pumps being refurbished during the 80s. The museum is also shut and the contents are shortly to be auctioned off.It was closed so I'm unable to report if it still functions. I don't know that one, but there used to be this one on the Marylebone Road ... but it's gone recently. You can still see it if you use the Google Streetview historic mode (clock icon top left). There used to be a really random one buried in between Park lane and Bond Street that all the black cabs went to, but I'm damned if I can find it on street view now.

I always think this one on the Upper Richmond Road near East Sheen is quaint, not as old as those in this thread, but still quite something for almost central London. This site must be worth *shedloads* where it is.

When I worked at Selfridges on Oxford Street, we sold petrol. The filling station was round the back, next to the Selfridges Car Park (still open as far as I know) and the Selfridges Hotel (gone). The filling station was demolished a few years ago and the petrol tanks removed (they were down in a concrete vault in the sub-basement, accessed via the loading bay area that's down there). I could only find one picture of it.

This is near home in Newbury. Mrs C says it would make a brilliant diner.
It also has a claim to fame as the first filling station in the country to have electric fuel pumps.
When I first came to Newbury in the 90s it was a tyre bay.
This used to be the 2nd hand car sales site for Park House Motors, the local Nissan agent, who had their main showroom on Andover Road in the Wash Common area of Newbury, (its been a tire depot as well though), how do I know? My dad used to work for Park House Motors. It also has a claim to fame as the first filling station in the country to have electric fuel pumps.

Just remembered about this old one in Helmsdale on the A9 between Inverness and Thurso.

I remember going to a similar looking station in Newcastle Upon Tyne that was pretty much tucked in under a large building.I tried to find it on street view but it was over 20 years ago now when I last went and couldn't remember where it was
