I guess the naturally aspirated fans could get the S2 and enjoy the same sort of experience as well?
They can indeed and many do! smile

There will always be much written about the choice between a 944 S2 and a 944 Turbo, but it's a case of horses for courses and you should choose the one you prefer.

There is less written about the choice between a 944 S2 and a 968, but the roadtests give very similar performance figures for both of them. In the couple of times I've had a friendly dice with a 968 there has been nothing between them and my S2 (indeed I thought the S2 was a bit quicker in both cases). I'd suggest that, given the ages of the cars, any difference will be much more a product of how well the car has been maintained and the condition of it, as well as the usual questions about driver ability and whatnot.

They're practically the same acceleration times - unsurprisingly.

Both won the plaudits at Annual Handling Days at Autocar as well....albeit separated by a few years

Can't you get a regular 968 for say 6 or 8k and just remove the rear seats ?
If you wanted a car that handles as well as the Clubsport then yes. Bearing in mind nearly all cars of this age will have tired bushes, suspension etc then a normal 968 with refreshes dampers and other suspension items would get you most of the way there but then that would be missing the point of it not being a Clubsport.

I'd just much prefer the rarity and racing heritage of a 924 Carrera GT.
There was a 924GTS and Club Sport 968 article in the latest EVO

I test drove a few of these while in the market. I found them a little disappointing - the steering was heavy and the brakes were a bit wooden. They didn't stay for sale very long though and they were getting snapped up regardless of condition.

I ended up going for an Audi RS2 instead.

The steering and brakes were better on the RS2 than a 968 ?
