Not necessarily. The capacity and layout are the only similarities between the 650 engine and the P1 engine. They're completely different.

This may be a detuned 650S engine, however depending on the method of detuning it could be very, very difficult to 'reinstate' that power.

I'm quite certain that like the 650S/P1, there'll be enough differentiators to make the price difference clear and understandable - otherwise there's be no point creating this car, if it's just going to cannibalise sales of what's likely to be the more profitable model...

12c no longer in production. The 12c was testing the water, this should be put together will 4 years of learnings and upgrades. Will surely be very quick, very light, could well be the sweet spot of the range.

I just think... the person who is going to buy a Mclaren isn't going to think, oh the weaker younger brother is a better deal, and go for the budget Mclaren, when a still cheaper GTR or Z06 would compete with the BIG brother Mclaren. It's not like this car is under 100k. Someone who can throw away 150k on a car to make them happy, should be able to throw 200k too, or else, they should just save up the money and buy something sensible.

It will be called 570S, and this close up doesn't look like the photos above, the wallpapered cars above must have some cladding around the rear pillar to hide the buttresses. http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/mclaren-570s-sp.... 570 is the PS figure, or 562 in BHP.
