Found this in my hedge...
Discussion
Right, after delving further, mainly on the dvla/gov website, it was last taxed in 2006. Where it seems to have been stood on the farm ever since. These things are £145 per year to tax btw.
I got the key from the previous owner of our house.
There is no V5, but can apply with a £25 fee. Might list it on eBay for the craic as a "hedge find" and see what happens, in which case I'll get the V5, I think, and SORN it.
All electrics seem to work. Got a puncture on one tyre, but have a brand new spare in the boot (sorry no dead cat in there - just a bit of rope, engine oil and a wheel brace). Oh and the exhaust is blowing.
One thing that did surprise me though was that the handbrake was on when I entered the car and I expected it to be seized, but it released fine and works a treat.

Get someone to give it a coat of clear 2k lacquer to preserve the look, and then you'll be able to wash it.
Do this. Rattle can laquer it. You can start a new trend, call it "dirted" or something st. Soon enought the VW boys will be frothing at the gash over it and this will be the car that started it all. You can put it on a plinth, sell up for 1000's and next time your hedge needs trimming your gardener will do it for you.
