Haven't seen the video, but I must admit I did the same to a driver in a traffic jam ahead of me. She threw out an empty coke bottle and an empty soda can, I got out of my car, picked them up and threw them back.
Call me a sanctimonious prick, but keep your fking litter to yourself. If you subsequently want to have a fight over it, you're just a complete moron who can't admit he was wrong in the first place.

"Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing. "

The police not backing the cyclist is beyond me, the driver got caught red handed, then continued to make a scene like he's done nothing wrong, and got away with it.
Remember, if someone breaks into your house, the police's advise is to get out of your house, and especially don't disturb the burglars.

Looks like 80% of the people on here agree with them though.

Driver should be charged with littering and penalised to the full extent of the law.
However, the cyclist also deserves what he gets for being an interfering, sanctimonious pcensoredk.
Precisely why the country is in such a state. Everyone eyes down, not wanting to get involved and when someone does stand up for (un)common decency they're called an 'interfering sanctimonious prick'.

Still, eyes down, stare at phone, leave bad behaviour unchallenged and then wonder why we're knee deep in st.
About right.

Clearly people have different interpretations of challenging. I'd describe chucking litter back into to a litterer's car as aggressive behaviour, likely to produce an aggressive responsive. In other words, a waste of time. People have posted far more constructive actions that are unlikely to escalate the situation.

I like how it doesn't occur to the cyclist that pissing off Ned in his Corsa may get him a shoeing.

"'I just thought for some reason in my head I should be confronting this person."

Obviously because a helmet cam makes you into Deputy Pedals.

Ned in the Corsa should be sterilised by the government of course.

Don't bother the government, I'll do it with a straight razor for train fare and a couple of pints.

A commentary on the sad state of affairs more than anything.

Police are not going to do anything, in a perfect world we would all decry it. But we do not, so it continues. Witness the junk dropped at the fast food drive through a few feet from the bins. People are not dragged up proper anymore and society gives them a free hand.

With their billions in profits the fast food outlets could easily afford to pay some graduate to litter watch the car park. Should be a law.

They do. (Probably some sort of law but also common commercial sense to have a reasonably pleasant car park to keep the punters happy.)
What they don't do is pay people to patrol the entire highway network.

Are you guys crazy? When the obnoxious kid doesn't clean up it's mess, you're not going to discipline it, are you? You have the good kid clean it up.
Or the cleaning lady, it's her job she gets fking paid for it.
Oh, and discipline the good kid if it gets fed up with the other kid's antics and speaks up, obviously.

This is bonkers.

Littering is a failing of the individual and their upbringing.

It is a result of bad parenting.

Why as a society have we become obsessed with blaming moral turpitude on the entity with money?

At what point is is someone like MacDonald's fault or even problem if a a person is so badly raised that they think it acceptable to litter?

The reason littering has become so endemic is because of this pisspoor way of thinking that the evil business is to blame and absolving the litterer and their st parents of blame.

It's evil and immoral to make a profit from business, but it's OK to get paid ridiculous amounts of cash for being a 'celebrity' the more vacuous the better. Surely you know that.

I've thrown litter back at a litterer through an open car window several times before. You need to get it onto the parcel shelf so the driver can't reach it without getting out again.

I don't want to live knee deep in the litter of other people or pay to have it cleaned up. Anyone who's happy to do so is an idiot, anyone unprepared to take action is a lazy coward.

The amount of litter you see in roadside verges is really quite depressing. How can people care so little about their surroundings?

Can't agree with what the driver did.

I love how cyclists (in general) try to act the big man behind their camera.

He sounded like a proper wet bd. Straight away threatening him with the police, how about don't start something you can't finish.
You sound like an 8 year old.

Here in the real world - the world real men live in, we solve issues of crime and disturbance by involving the police. It's how modern societies work.

Or do you prefer the neanderthal way? If so, why live in such an advanced society?

Rubbish. Literally.

Love the 'moral turpitude' bit though. Nice to think some PHers are Puritans! rofl

Not sure why you're harping on about 'evil business' - it's quite an extrapolation to go from 'fast food outlets could easily afford' etc to that.

Also parents aren't the only source of a young persons morals or behaviour, you're completely wrong.

I'm with DonkeyApple on this one. I wouldn't go so far as calling it 'moral turpitude', but the majority of the blame has to be lack of personal responsibility / lack of values, and in a large number of cases due to poor role modelling by parents. Expecting organisations, no matter how rich / how immoral they may be, to clear up after people is not the right message to send.
