Well agree to a degree as Golf R only has 4 cylinders.

You should hear the roar of the straight 6 turbo of the ///M135 Junior Supercar though.

It's about the looks and presence. And to joe public it looks amazing, unique and expensive.

So let's be honest it's going to be any Ferrari, Bugatti, Lamborghini, gt40, mcclaren.

I actually doubt Porsche would be there except maybe the 959 or their recent hyper car. 911's et al are everywhere and commonplace.

Not saying they aren't super, but they don't have presence I'm afraid.
I'd agree with all of this. Its seemingly impossible to layout a list of requirements that have to be met to define a supercar as its largely subjective. A key point being Joe Publics reaction to the car is key.

I hope you're joking.

Give either a remap and they'll leave many classic supercars in their dust.

And people will take lots of pictures if they're parked in front of a Murcielago.

And they're practical.

And they have ISOFIX.

A MkIV Supra TT can be bought for about £7k.

It's a pretty fast car even today and it still looks great.

Damn straight, and boot space that leaves all so called supercars to shame!

Bland shopping trolley that nobody would give a second glance to does not equal supercar, no matter how many m badges are fitted to it...

It's about public perception. Not ph perception.

Yes I'm sure a bmw 135 is faster than a 70's lambo. But it has no style, pow, impact of the latter.

To the public it's a little girls shopping car. Doesn't matter that you can quote torque and all that other pub drivel

0-60 times don't count I'm afraid it's the roar of the motor, how awkward it is to drive, how out of place it looks amongst other cars.

We've also missed 70's alfas like the Montreal too in the list.

To me, a supercar is:

- Non series production (low volume somewhat hand built)
- Has a sense of fragility (an Audi R8 is a piece of heavy German engineering)
- Exotic construction
- Proper performance for its era
- Practicalities not anywhere near the top of the priority list.
- Not designed with long distance in mind

As a result:

- 458 is a supercar
- Nissan GTR is not

- F12 is supercar
- FF is not a supercar

Been in and heard many a M135i thanks.

It's still a million years from a supercar. A nice car yes, but a Supercar no.

That's better, but I still think you want seats, not doors, and I propose the addition of an engine location multiplier - 1.2 for rear-engined, 1.5 for mid smile

That formula almost works however the Bugatti Veyron scores only a rating of 8 with 16/8/1/4/2/2 stats.

Pretty good, until you see an M5 and M6 above a GTR like that. Performance needs to be included somehow?

Hmmm...ok, the idea is to make to criteria fit what we know to be supercars. It gets complicated, because I consider the Gallardo to be a sportscar rather than a supercar, and that has a V10. So I'll revise the criteria below:

- Mid engined
- V12 and up (or a turbo V8 or flat 6 turbo (or above) or a race derived engine or some kind of hybrid thing)
- E.g. Lambo Miura, Ferrari F40, Enzo, LaFerrari, McLaren F1, P1, Porsche 959 etc.
