45mph for all occasions

So, he overtook you somewhat riskily, then you do the same thing to him seconds later in a much safer manner and he gets upset about it?
Jesus. How can anyone be so arrogant to assume that only they are allowed to overtake.
I helped his overtake by delaying accelerating from 30 to 40 as the limit changed - I knew he was going to overtake by the way he was all over my bumper through the 30 zone. I could see in the mirror that he was getting uptight and telling his passenger exactly what he thought of me holding him up by driving 15 miles per hour than his default speed.Jesus. I sort of expected he might put his foot down when I pulled out to overtake him in the NSL, so I pulled out and waited a second or two to check. No change: he stuck at 45 on the button, so I pulled the left paddle once, pressed the appropriate pedal and I was past and feeling safer.

Going by the driving tuition that I and many people my age received, I am not entirely sure this is true.
We were always taught never to exceed the speed limit, but were expected to drive as close to it as safely and practically possible.
Otherwise you may hold up other road users, which again, is something I was taught we were to try and avoid. At best it's discourteous, and at worst, you may impede traffic flow.
Yep mate of mine failed for failing to make progress, 45 in a NSL IIRCWe were always taught never to exceed the speed limit, but were expected to drive as close to it as safely and practically possible.

I hate the 42 mph brigade with a passion.
I regularly encounter them doddling along at 40 in a 60 limit at night, wont't use their main beam and braking everytime a car comes the opposite way.
And then they reach a town, well lit, 30mph limit and they actually speed up to 45mph.
yet I'm branded the mad man, boy racer, lunatic of the road if I dare overtake them when they are travelling 20mph below the limit.
