Well spotted PH. Reading an article like this, quoting those prices just 12 months on, shows how dramatic the price increase has been.

Are these prices really going to be sustainable given the volumes of cars sold?

14 year old car with 70k miles and £50,000... that had better have been loved like no other car for that money imo.

Any photos of the underneath and behind the wheel arch liners?

I bought my newer, lower mile 996 turbo x50 for that price 7 years ago.

I don't get this.

Even as an owner of a 996T, I would always consider a 997T to be worth something more than a 996T.

And very obviously a 991T much more still.

So there must be a scale of values, but if a 996T at 70k miles is worth 50k, then what is a 997T worth? And a 991T? More than list?

I don't think so.

I understand a basline value, but not at that level (for an unexceptional car).

You can get a V12 CL600 for £5k. Yes a different type of car, but still. So a 996 for £50k is not good value. It is daftly over priced. But each to their own silly

I wouldn't. a 997.1 does absolutely nothing for me over a 996.

We are all different, and in my opinion the 996 looks better than the 997 from every angle except the front. End of the day looks are subjective and prices reflect that. It also helps that many say the 996 is a better drive.

997.1's tend to go for about 10k more for an equivalent car but there is now huge crossover.

As for the black car, looks priced a little high for a non-x50, and a little low for an x50. I don't see any mention of the x50 pack on the advert? don't assume the exhaust tips give it away, many owners switch them.

It makes me laugh when forum members attempt to make logical conclusions of car values, there is nothing logical about paying £150k for a 355, or for that matter 100k for a 997 GT3. Demand dictates value, so although the guys stating its 'overpriced' won't be lining up for one, someone is!

Are they though? I might be wrong, but I'm getting the impression stock is beginning to hang around a bit longer lately. Recent asking price reductions on the likes of 964RSs suggests to me that something is up, and maybe it's no longer "acceptable" for dealers just to add 10% on top of the previous sale price

Of course something is up.

It's a bubble and they always peak and then pop.

Just look at car prices from spring 08 > spring 09... that'll happen again with current used car prices.
