PHTV - Episode 5

Sunday Service track action, Zenos E10 S and more PHer content in Episode 5

Sorry we're late! After promising each PHTV episode on a Wednesday, here we are five episodes in and the video is live on Thursday. Still, it's worth the wait. No, really.

What's happening this week? The Zenos E10 S was significant enough for both James and Dan to visit Bruntingthorpe for a drive and that forms a decent chunk of the episode. Rumours are they don't get out of bed for less than 300hp per tonne... Anyway, as well as Dan's written story there are now interviews with key Zenos personnel (including James's old boss Ansar Ali), plus a video lap. And some oversteer, obviously.

As well as that, we have video from last weekend's Silverstone Sunday Service (more on that soon), the latest PH news and our best PHer videos so far received. Keep 'em coming! And the next episode will be on Wednesday. Honest.

Enjoyed that again cheers and I didn't know much about Zenos up until I watched that, the styling of them isn't to my taste but I do really buy into the ethos behind them, keep up the good work.thumbup

"How can that be topped, you might ask." hehe

Oh dear...
Aimed at people who have either never watched a television, or nerds.
Crazy guitar music, banter, casual clothing...blokes, jokes...

Why show clips from that thing called Youtube that are clips sent in from viewers apparently?
Painful. Kind of 6th Form Top Gear without any racism.

Toe curlingly bad. Amateur presenting (awkward & wooden doesn't even begin to describe it), very poorly put together. Perfect description by poster who said something along the lines of 'a sixth form Top Gear.

Makes you realise how good the real pros are!

Sorry!

Sorry!
The pros hit their producers though when they don't get their own way so I am more than happy to watch the Amateurs that aren't rammed up their own backsides.

Its only 15 odd minutes of car stuff so its a little harsh comparing it to Top Gear and hopefully that wont come back anyway all being well.

Think the critism is a little unfair I think its pretty good. Clearly it's not a big budget BBC prgram like top gear, but from a content point of view it fits in more of what I want to be covered in 15minutes than top gear gets through in an hour. (Liked that my little mr2 with blue wheels was included in the track footage of the Sunday services too).

To all the naysayers, can we have a link to your much better online video blog please?

Thought not.

Well done guys, informal pub car talk with more car content than a whole season of Top Gear. Looking forward to the next installment.

All the above have featured on the Pistonheads front page before so not that hard to find.
That's just the tip of a large iceberg of motoring shows on the web.
I know I don't have to watch the Pistonheads TV show, so I won't comment further.

I guess the woodenness will improve in time as the guys relax into it a bit more and the dynamics start to work a bit better. CH's early videos were pretty wooden too, and the same for Jethro Bovingdon over on the EVO video's, but both are slick now and don't seem uncomfortable in front on the camera at all

I'd like to see some more details on PH'ers cars, and the drive by's are too short with no real description of what's going on
Maybe a review of the barges or some of the other cars so popular on PH
Everyone likes a good drag race (even with a rolling start), so some of those between PH'er cars could be good too

It's all stuff that's reasonably easy to organise and doesn't cost a TG style production budget

Maybe some interviews with the more prominent PH'ers - Some of the super car owners - Flemke or someone like that, maybe ?

I think these episodes should be locked from comment. The criticism is ott - the guys are doing a great job and don't need advice from armchair presenters.

Why not do the talking head stuff in-car? It'll be spectacularly less expensive, far less nerve-wracking and will give you a minor USP. Being absolutely 100% frank, as I am informed you are happy for us to be, it might be better if you just fished about, either in-house or out, for people who are more natural in front of camera. I'll do it. I'd be superb at it.

...and none of them are presented by you.

But do feel free to link us to your blog. I wouldn't be able to produce online videos like PH has been, which gives me no right to be critical of their talents.

Keep it up guys smile

It's easy to be critical, and yes there is room for improvement, but I've enjoyed watching them so far.

Keep it up guys.

Actually you are allowed to have an opinion on something without doing it yourself. For example I am no chef, it I know that subway is st.

PH TV is setting better each episode.
Some of the music is a bit 80's
The Silverstone Sunday Service bit was a wasted opportunity, why not do like a 'grid walk' talking to some owners about their cars.
I also think that with the budget that Haymarket could potentially throw at this (not saying that they necissarily are btw) it could/should be a lot better.

I do enjoy watching it, but CH, Drive, Autocar, Harry's garage, petrolicious etc. are all a lot slicker!

Where is the logic to that?

If you bought a car that was rubbish, or went to a concert where the musicians were dreadful, would you think that was ok because you couldn't do better?

By the same logic miniracer's praise is irrelevant as well because he doesn't produce his own worthless motoring vlog. In fact this forum should be shut down since most comments about aren't made by car designers.

Thanks for all the feedback chaps, we're taking it all on board and hopefully addressing the major points as we go. Hopefully we've got the tone and basics of the content right and we're getting there with the presentation I hope. Suffice to say, it's not as easy as the pros make it look but then ain't it ever thus.

And I like the idea of the Sunday Service 'grid walk' too... thumbup

Cheers!

Dan
