With every generation it gets bigger, fatter, and uglier.

The vent controls under the screen make it look like a 21st century in car etch-a-sketch

These will no doubt sell like hot cakes in the Middle East and to wealthy Americans.

Don't make so much sense in Europe unless you want bling factor.

Err, the original ML certainly didn't kick off the luxury SUV craze. By the time it went on sale, the P38 Range Rover had been around for several years, and really the classic Range Rover had kicked it off in 1970, with the four-door following in the mid-80s (except for the Monteverdi conversion, which preceded the factory version by several years, and arguably brought it about). Mind you, technically the Jeep Wagoneer kicked off the luxo-SUV craze in 1963.
Yup. Technically, the first factory car to recognise the luxury on road market and market directly at it was the 1980/1 In Vogue.

I didn't think GlandWagens appeared until the late 90s. I did assume that I had just read the sentence wrong and the author was referring to the Germans et all joining the market place with Cayennes and X5 in the 90s rather than inventing or defining it.
