Serious answer, toolbox, rope, gaffer tape, cable ties, torch, first aid kit, glow sticks, a few liters of water, an ice box (sometimes filled with beer / food).

To be fair, i don't drive in Europe.

Other serious answer, the Rope, Gaffer Tape and cable ties aren't just for tying up victims before throwing them in the back ......

When I still owned a car I had;

Electric tyre pump
Spare fuel pump relay
Spare light bulbs
Socket Set
Some wire
Screw Drivers
Jump Leads
Oil
Hi-Vis vest
Water proof coat
Umbrella
Spare bulb clips for the xenon bulbs
BMW tool kit
First aid kit
2 tins of Tyre weld (no spare in M5)
Strong arm
Spare wiring loom for steering wheel
Waterless cleaner with cloths for wiping bird st off the car.

Not sure all of that will go in my new car as there isnt the room. E39 5 Series BMW's have some nice cubby holes in the boot and the false floor makes for nice storage too.

A torch, aux and charging leads for phone, jump leads and screenwash, bottled water behind the seat. I find it encourages me to drink water rather than buy fizzy drinks! Also a tyre depth gauge and an ice scraper.

Hmm, I can see this thread turning all 'boathouse'.

Baby wipes
Domestic First aid kit
Additional field dressing
Rescue hammer/seatbelt cutter
Umbrella
Reusable shopping bags

During winter:

Deicer spray
Scraper
Couple of extra warm jackets/hats/gloves

Phone charger,
Jump leads,
Silica gel dehumidification thingies,
Sun glasses,
Tyre pressure gauge,
A pair of gloves suitable for driving (they're actually cycling gloves),
A pen,
The OEM "tool kit",
USB key with my music collection on it (which lives inside the head unit),
Deicer spray in the winter,
Whatever has fallen under the seats since I last took them out,

I think that's about it. Total weight <2kg. smile

Tub of Airwaves gum
Couple CD's
Receipts for bits and bobs for the car neatly stashed (nothing important to history mind)
Hi Viz Jacket (Work)
Car Tidy Bag containing:
Fast Glass
Microfibres
Couple mist pad things
Kitchen Roll
Baby Wipes
Ice scraper thingy

Tyre inflator and chargers if the socket worked in the car

I'll never keep anything heavy in the car, but I imagine I'll soon have a little clean/detailing kit with me haha.

Set of golf clubs, golf trolley and two pairs of golf clubs.

... Oh, and an extendable wheel wrench.
