talk to the real supercar owners in here, not just the fanboys. TT993, APOLO1 etc. They all say the P1 feels like a parts bin car and truly lament the owners who are stuck with one, LaFerrari and 918 are so far ahead on quality and fit`n`finish its not even funny.

Nice first try though.
Got a link to any of that? Never heard anything other than praise for the p1 on here or elsewhere.

Yes some prefer the 918 but I've never seen anybody slag the p1
It's clearly a windup. Especially claiming a laferrari is 'so far ahead on quality and fit and finish it's not funny'.... The 918 is definitely ahead of the P1 in build quality but both are well ahead by a considerably greater margin over the laferrari.

I am sure all the P1 owners truly need the comiserations of those chaps you mention as well..... That 'parts bin car that is little more than a souped up 12c' is proving pretty bloody close to the car designed and assembled with little regard to cost as an engineering/tech showcase by a company with vastly greater resources.

This need to constantly validate one's choice of car by putting down a competitor is pretty mystifying to me especially as it's not just the fanboys indulging in that but adults who are able to afford near €1m cars....

I presume you've had experience of all 3? Or are you just as guilty as the poster above? tongue out Perhaps people like Bailey can give good feedback since he owns all 3.

More importantly though, for all the cold and hot and track testing a manufacturer does on a car before launch. It's normally when it's out there with customers that issues arise. So maybe McLaren are having teething problems. Ferrari have been apparently caught out with potential problems on the LaF (fire) So did Porsche with the GT3. (fire) But then I would expect their customer service team to be pretty good at resolving it. People can accept when a machine put together by humans goes wrong. It's how a manufacturer deals with that afterwards that matters IME

Well i am lucky enough to be able to look over the 918s quite regularly and have had a very good pore over/ sit in a friend's P1..and have seen a laferrari in process of being sent back to the factory for unacceptable paint/cf finish........is that sufficient experience for you?

if PB would comment, that would be very much something of interest indeed.

italian paint job and CF job can be excused, the F40s were no better! Still a technological tour de force though.

The P1 drivetrain is made of milk chocolate, constant errors and faults and it doesnt hold up according to APOLO1 and 911Viking smile

Alex, before you go quoting APOLO1 and 911Viking, please be aware they have an agenda are probably the most Porsche partisan pair you are ever likely to meet, and will take any opportunity to promote their favourite brand, Porsche

Of the three the 918 is probably the best built, on the flip side it has a truly uncomfortable seating position for anyone taller than a dwarf. The P1 one runs it close on build quality and both are miles ahead of the LaFerrari. I had the pleasure of scanning Jay Kays green LaFerrari last year just after he got it, and if it had been me who has shelled out a million plus large I would have sent it back as unacceptable. Just a cursory glance revealed a paint job that was amateur at best and shut lines that were all ober the place. And I know paint having painted show winning cars for over 30 years now. Why is it acceptable for Italians to produce shoddy work, Pagani does'nt

If you want to get the real jen on the P1 pop over to www.mclarenlife.com and speak to the numerous owners on there, they are not afraid to have a pop if they have an issue but almost to a man seem very happy with their purchases. Plus if appears P1 owners drive their cars both on track and on the street a lot more than the other two

Fair enough didnt think they had such a bias, since they didnt slag off the ferrari but seemed very disappointed and relieved they didnt go for the P1 and lamented the poor owners...

Good to know I am not the only one to think so...! I still think the P1 is definitely a step below the 918 which is really top quality but even so not many I really think will have very much if anything to quibble about the P1.

Lol, had a good look round one yesterday, when you get up close looks like some one raided the parts bin.
You know a few of Max' buddies also have P1's and more or less given up driving them, bits really do fall off them all the time, electronics, batts and drivetrain apparently are all milk chocolate, sad really.

.....feel sorry for the 2nd owner's......
Appollo is the Porsche equivalent of that guy who comes on here ranting about mclaren in every thread.

If you belive him he seems to be very well connected in porsche circles knowing an aweful lot of info others don't.

Doesn't mean he isn't right of course regarding the p1 just that you should be aware there might be a bit if bias. He has also ordered a 918 paying 20k extra for that blue colour. So I imagine will want to confirm he has made the right choice.

Quite a lot of mark fan boys on this site. Quite a few with axes to grind too over the years. ph opinions yes by all means take them into the mix but don't take everything for granted just yet on here.

Never noticed the other guy.

Good p1 clip two days in one

Good video, thanks for posting.
When somebody who has extensive experience of all three says "car of the year for me" you have to take notice.
