I really like this, and as others have said, it's nice to see a Macca that is a possible future purchase after a bit of depriciation, rather than limited number hypercars that never approach affordable levels.

Twin-turbo V8, 0-60 in 3.2s, lovely looking interior... And yet I can't get excited about it. The exterior is so bland to my eyes, I'd much rather have a Huracan.

Personally I love it.

There are some pictures out there of the interior of the grey car in Cream leather, looks more successful that the black and yellow interior in the article...

More high res stuff here...

ps. The strange bullet on the dash top is apparently the front centre speaker of the B&W premium 12 speaker stereo
looks lovely!

So, two and a half hours after my first post and I'm beginning to like the interior. Will be interesting to see how I feel by lunchtime smile

I do feel the exterior looks better in silver grey and I wold love to see a stealthy black.

I was having fun with a few Hs at VMAX a few days ago. Stunning design but even then knowing its an R8 in drag takes the gloss away a bit. They were unbelievably quick at launching VBOX 3.1s 60mph and 6.5s to 100mph all day. Top speeds of well in excess of 205 mph run after run all day. Even gave a 918 a run for its money!

Those pink plastic patio style chairs in the rear shot.....are they an alternative to the figure hugging sports seats? ie an optional extra? They won't catch on as the headroom would be compromised! Would make for an interesting drive though trying to stay on them while hurtling round the track!
Great car, looks fantastic to my eyes.

Love it. Great interior and exterior that reminds me a little of the F1. I like their approach rather than the blingfest of other manufacturers. Must put more into my piggy bank.

Well done McLaren! Interesting details everywhere you look.

I'd have one over the competition without hesitation.

Would I be right in saying this is simply a replacement for the 12C? Or is this a new model altogether?

Something very Evora-ish about it to me

From a model POV the 650 replaced the 12C and this is a new model.

Absolutely the best resolved design since the MP12C. It looks great. The rear has some similarities to the P1 but not the exposed intestines fortunately. The side joins the front to the rear much better than the 650. Some interesting details.

The intimate rechargable massager for the passenger atop the dash looks odd, should be in the door storage.

Apart from that very neat, tidy and minimalist interior.

Given the stats and the increasing competition, I really hope this takes some 911 sales. Porsche are already rumoured to be making a mid engined car to compete with the 458 and this. Perhaps a reworking of the R8 because the 911 just took another step back.

Well done McLaren. Seeing as they have plans until 2022, it is 2015 and there will be a new car each year then then future, based on this looks good.

Isn't this going to entice a lot of buyers away from the 650? It's a bit cheaper and a bit less powerful and doesn't look all that different.
Where is the 1200kg 400bhp £100k McLaren I thought they were going to make?

I can't believe how dull that video makes modern super cars look. It looks like all the 'drivers' are doing is full throttle for about 15 seconds. No steering. No manual launch. No manual gear changes.

Grey with tan interior please... Best looking road car from McLaren to date. Delicious, as understated as a super car gets. No need to wrap it.

I like it an think it is great to see something different in terms of interior design, the orange may be a bit much for everyday use but other options as shown in the alternative pictures look much better.

It does look a bit like other cars in the range, but not so much as to be indistinguishable from them. Not a problem for the 570S though - a car for £145k that looks similar to a £200k one or a Porsche Turbo for the same money that looks like a £70k one?

Is the 570 the larger or smaller of the two numbers beginning with 5?

I'm not sure it's fair to say it's an R8 in drag - with the platform changes between the two it's a unique design, and who cares where the root of the monocoque or the design for the transmission cradle comes from? It looks great, sounds great, and is quick enough to scare the bejesus out of most folks. biggrin

Bearing in mind they all share the same tub, basic engine & layout, what's the USP for this model?
Lightness presumably?
