Whilst not the best example of a Q car, I certainly don't think it's the worst:

4.0 V8 with a manual gearbox and LSD. Still producing it's quoted 283bhp and apparently can do 0-60 in 6.3 seconds but I rarely get involved with traffic light Grand Prixs as it really comes into it's own once on the move.

Just no! Educate yourself as to the point of the original post before contributing. The M135i exists for the exact opposite reason - to define the template that the purchasers/leasers of lower models aspire to by paying for M-Sport crap addenda, in other words looks without the performance.

Oh dear.
Have a sense of humour man.
There is sense of humour and then having some chavtastic badges on the back of the car. I'd perhaps have appreciated it when I was a 12 year old..
It's a wonderful thing that we are all different then. smile
Doesn't anyone play scrabble? it is simply a re-arrangement of the existing Phaeton letters the other numbers were on the car, still each to his own eh

Indeed we are different and it is good, some of us get to mock silly things hehe

And re playing scrabble, yes, played it a long time ago. Doesn't mean I am going to re-arrange all the letters on my car though.

Symptom of using an American engine.

The rest of the engine makes noise smile
Probably a pickup truck engine so tuned for torque not power?

Actual figures on these always beat the conservative Volvo official figures.
S40 T4? I remember that these (along with the V40 T4) had faster 30-70 than the contemporary Impreza Turbo. Good shout.

Hmmm - you missed the 220 GSi turbo smile
I had one of those briefly, plus 2 different 620Ti's.

The 220 was very very quick, the Ti's 'surprising' to say the least.
For me the 220 was better looking, and a bit less stealthy with the 3dr shell. The 400 shape was truly snoozetastic!

Part of a Q-car is it should look a bit s**t! smile

Would look even more Q with a dent in the door and some rust so make it look a little more 'council'

For those who seem to have mis-understood what a Q car is, this and the Rovers mentioned above are what it's all about. The idea is a wolf in sheep's clothing not the other way round.

Rover 620ti...

2 litre turbo (Rover T-series engine, not Honda as some think!)
197bhp
0-60mph in 7.2s
Top speed 143mph

All in an innocuous 4 door saloon with a Rover badge, that looked like it was your grandad's car.

Now that's a Q-car!

Although it's awful to behold, I do agree that is a superb example of a Q car. Good call sir
Nailed it!
Perfect. Not quite as good but I also offer some Griffin metal....early 2000s Vectra GSi 3.2 V6, almost as quick as a VXR but looked EXACTLY like a standard rep version, normal alloys, tiny GSi badge, no spoilers. 208 BHP, 154 MPH, 0-60 7.0secs.

Currently driving an A3 3.2 Sport, no s-line guff and just short of 250hp.
Only the badge on the back give it away from the tdi brigade, followed by the sound.

Perfect mix of Q-eyness and sound!

I vaguely remember these doing quite well in Group A rallying in the late 80s.

Possibly the most understated homologation special ever? I remember being in my older cousins mildly breathed on 2.0 Sierra about 20 years ago and taking one on in a race (neither of us knew what it was). Only a 1.6 turbo with about 140bhp and 4WD I think but it absolutely annihilated us! Good luck trying to find one now though!

Nail. On the head. :-)

There are some great suggestions here guys. Thanks for the input.

A friend of a friend has a debadged S7. There are zero visual clues and it's always grubby so it looks even better.

If you aren't a big petrolhead, you would have no idea what it was capable of. I think he's mapped it as well to approx 550bhp. So cool!

The 3.2 v6 elite was even blander. It looked like a poverty spec ls.

This one has to be a good Q car ex-works:

Other manufacturers offered their most powerful C-segment car with spoilers, red stripes and sporty trim and less than 180PS.

The 265PS 130i comes in the look of the 116i base model, no go-faster stripes no fancy badges. iirc the only visible add ons that were no option for the other models were the chrome stripes in the grille, and the twin exhaust pipes.

True story. But I wouldn't want so much damage that it gets declared a write off. That would be just awful.

That 540 is awesome though, had a good look around it at Silverstone and it's immaculate!
