I had a small hole in my Celica TS exhaust as it went into the back box. I thought I had fixed it using exhaust paste. Apparently not.

On the drive home earlier my exhaust suddenly got quite a bit louder. Turns out the exhaust sheered off at the back box where I fixed the hole previously.

Can this be repaired? Or is it too far gone and needs replacing?

Agreed - exhaust parts are hardly expensive. Euro car parts / eBay for cheap st if you aren't keeping it long or the better quality stuff from GSF if you are

The only exhaust paste worth putting on is applied with a welder......

Well I would go a buy a new one, but Toyota want £399 for the back box. Cheapest I found online was £260.

Agreed - especially when a hole is where a pipe joins the box rather than a pinhole in the box itself

Just for a laugh, this is the masterful bodge that got me home from the London to Brighton Mini run..

It snapped just behind the box, like yours. Sounded like the world ended.

Look into a stainless box - often cheaper than the OEM ones and obviously longer lasting

Is there something special about that particular model? There are Celica back-boxes for £70 on ebay.

What year is it? £84 for the 2000 shape and £56 for the 1995 one from ECP

They have nothing for the T sport. I tried a bunch of car parts sites with no luck. The 190 one seems to be a lot more expensive than the standard 140bhp Celica, also harder to get.

Wrong one, the 190 one has another box right before the tip and has a larger diameter tube. There's a lot of confusion between the two 140bhp and 190bhp versions.

PM me your reg and I'll see what kind of prices I can find on my trade accounts - any of my suppliers will be able to come close for the public if you ask the right questions

The link shows that it's for both engine outputs but you'll be far better placed than me to see if it's the same thing. Beyond Toaster Pilot offering help, have you considered one of the Toyota specialist forums? I managed to get an expensive centre section (with cat) replaced much cheaper by calling my local independent garage, always worth a try.

An outside option but if you are willing to go for a used one you could try this lot: http://www.breakersweb.co.uk
